CBS 4 in Miami reports Rams SLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar was arrested outside of a South Beach club early Sunday on battery and disorderly conduct charges.

Dunbar was allegedly hanging with ex-Sacramento Kings guard Donte Green when a "physical altercation" broke out. No further details are available. Dunbar was suspended four games in 2013 for violating the NFL's PED policy, but has otherwise not had run-ins with the law as a pro. The Rams re-signed Dunbar to a two-year, $3.5 million deal in March. He's their starting Sam 'backer.

Rams re-signed SLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar to a two-year, $3.5 million contract.

Thus ending Ray-Ray Armstrong's brief stay atop St. Louis' "Sam" 'backer depth chart. Dunbar, who turned 29 today, made ten starts in 2013, finishing with 39 empty tackles. His run defense slipped, but he's familiar with new DC Gregg Williams from New Orleans and a favorite of the coaching staff. Dunbar is a two-down linebacker across from James Laurinaitis and Alec Ogletree.

Rams re-signed OLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar.

The Rams surprisingly cut Dunbar, a 16-game starter in 2012, after he was handed a four-game suspension for violating the league's PED policy, but he's back now that his ban is up. He'll likely immediately slide back into a starting role, supplanting struggling veteran Will Witherspoon. It's an upgrade for the Rams' sputtering defense.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Rams are expected to re-sign free agent OLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar on Monday.

The Rams cut Dunbar on September 3 after he was slapped with a four-game NFL suspension for violating the NFL's PED policy. Dunbar could take over as a starter immediately, replacing Will Witherspoon at right outside 'backer.

Coach Jeff Fisher wouldn't rule out the Rams re-signing WLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar.

"We haven't said this is it as far as his future is concerned here," said Fisher. "Of course there's a good possibility. Anything is possible." The Rams cut Dunbar on Tuesday. He's suspended for the first four games of the season after violating the league's policy on PEDs. It's possible the Rams cut Dunbar because they were right up against the salary cap and needed to get in compliance. Dunbar was a key cog in the Rams' run defense last season.

Rams released WLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar.

Known as a player's coach, Jeff Fisher uncharacteristically condemned Dunbar after he was slapped with a four-game ban for violating the league's PED policy, but it's still surprising the Rams would cut a player who was expected to start upon his return. Dunbar started all 16 games last season, racking up 115 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions. Fading veteran Will Witherspoon is taking Dunbar's spot in the starting lineup opposite James Laurinaitis.

NFL suspended WLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar four games for violating the league's policy against performance enhancing substances.

The Rams likely knew about this awhile ago, because they signed Will Witherspoon as veteran insurance. Witherspoon now figures to open the season as St. Louis' starting weak-side linebacker, across from rookie Alec Ogletree. It's a concern for the early-season run defense, where Dunbar excelled in 2012. He finished last season with 115 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

New Rams LBs coach Frank Bush talked up WLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar after watching St. Louis' 2012 game tapes.

Although Dunbar is a liability in coverage, he showed playmaking ability in 2012 and is one of two starting linebackers, along with MLB James Laurinaitis, on whom the Rams can count for 2013. "He was a surprise," Bush said of Dunbar. "After going back watching the tape, Jo-Lonn did a good job. He flashed a lot. He was physical. Had a little surliness to him, which I kind of like."

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch projects Jo-Lonn Dunbar as the Rams' starting weak-side linebacker.

There's a long way to go, of course, but the too-early depth chart has Dunbar at weak side and Mario Haggan at strong-side linebacker. Rookies Aaron and Sammy Brown, and Alex Hoffman-Ellis will be vying for backup roles with Justin Cole and Josh Hull. Dunbar could be a sneaky late pick in IDP leagues.

Rams LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar says he's open to playing any linebacker position.

"I'm just here to play ball," Dunbar said. "Whatever they need me to do, I'm ready to do. I'm familiar with all three linebacker positions; I understand my reads in those three linebacker positions. So I'm ready to do whatever Coach (Jeff) Fisher wants me to do here." Dunbar was used all over the field in New Orleans, but should primarily man the strong-side in St. Louis with James Laurinaitis entrenched in the middle. Dunbar started 14 games for the Saints in 2011.
