Bennett said he doesn't plan to come out of retirement, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett hinted at a return to football after his brother was traded to the Patriots, but he's now making it clear that his focus is on his company, The Imagination Agency. The 32-year-old tight end struggled with injuries in 2017 and didn't play in 2018.

Bennett is interested in coming out of retirement to play with his brother for the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett was released by New England almost exactly a year ago and announced his retirement shortly thereafter. His interest in playing football seems to have been rekindled by the knowledge that his former team is working out a trade to acquire his older brother -- 33-year-old defensive end Michael Bennett -- from the Eagles. Martellus will celebrate his 32nd birthday over the weekend, having last played football in Nov. 2017.

Bennett announced his retirement via his personal twitter account on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett made comments hinting at his retirement during the 2017 season and had been mulling the decision over the past couple months. In nine games last year, split between the Packers and Patriots, the tight end recorded 286 yards on 30 catches. He bounced between the Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Patriots, and Packers over the course of his 10-year career, totaling 4,573 yards and 30 touchdowns on 433 receptions.

The Patriots are slated to release Bennett, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, the move will free up in the neighborhood of $6 million is salary cap space for the team in advance of free agency. Bennett, who turns 31 on March 10, began the 2017 campaign with Green Bay (where he hauled in 24 passes for 233 yards in seven games) before catching six passes in two outings with the Patriots after being claimed on waivers. Shoulder and hamstring issues landed the tight end on IR in late November, but assuming he wants to play in 2018, Bennett figures to draw some interest once he re-proves his health. Moreover, depending on how the Rob Gronkowski situation plays out, it's also possible that Bennett could return to New England on a team-friendly deal.

Bennett (shoulder) wants to return to the football field for the 2018 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett indicated plans to retire before being waived by the Packers in November, and subsequently claimed by the Patriots. The 30-year-old appeared in only two games for New England before landing on injured reserve, and is due a two million dollar roster bonus March 14, which makes him a potential cap casualty.

Bennett (shoulder/hamstring) will be placed on injured reserve, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett was released by the Packers in early November amid a disagreement about how to deal with his shoulder injury. He seemingly wanted to have surgery, but then put it off once he was released and had the option of rejoining the Patriots. A subsequent hamstring injury will end Bennett's season after just two appearances in a New England uniform, and he'll presumably now have the surgery on his shoulder. He'll turn 31 in March and has already dropped hints that this could be his final season in the NFL. Dwayne Allen reclaims his role as the Patriots' No. 2 tight end.

Bennett (shoulder/hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
With Bennett sidelined, fellow tight end Dwayne Allen figures to see added work Sunday, with Jacob Hollister on hand in a reserve role. Neither are viable fantasy lineup options, however, as long as Rob Gronkowski remains healthy enough to log abundant snaps.

Bennett (shoulder/hamstring), who is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, won't play in the contest, a source informed Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett's doubtful designation already made it more likely than not that he wouldn't suit up in Week 12, but Rapoport's report indicates that the veteran tight end hasn't made any unexpected progress since sitting out Friday's practice. With Bennett out of the mix, Dwayne Allen will be the clear top backup to Rob Gronkowski, but Allen is unlikely to be much of a factor in the passing game if Gronkowski makes it through the contest unscathed.

Bennett (shoulder/hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
With Bennett unlikely to play this weekend, fellow tight end Dwayne Allen could see added work Sunday, but neither player represents a major threat to fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski's lofty fantasy status.

Bennett (shoulder/hamstring) did not practice Friday, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Back-to-back missed practices suggest that Bennett is truly iffy for Sunday's game against Dolphins, though as Howe points out the tight end played through his aches and pains last Sunday against the Raiders and has yet to miss a game while a member of the Patriots. Bennett's official Week 12 status will be relayed upon the release of the team's Friday injury report.
