Fred Davis TE WAS 8 Months

Fred Davis wasn't targeted in Washington's Week 12 loss to the 49ers.

Davis played maybe a handful of snaps; we only noticed him once. He blocked on that lone play. Davis was active for the first time since Week 6 due to Jordan Reed's (concussion) absence. There was a report that Davis skipped team meetings during the week, even though he knew he was going to be active. Davis has tuned out and is simply looking forward to free agency.

Redskins TE Fred Davis will be active in Week 12 against the 49ers.

Davis has been a healthy inactive the last five weeks, but is now needed with Jordan Reed (concussion) ruled out for Monday night's game. He should see the majority of passing down work over blocking TE Logan Paulsen. Davis has just three catches for 25 yards this season and is not a recommended TE2 option for Week 12.

Redskins declared TE Fred Davis, QB Rex Grossman, RB Chris Thompson, LB Brandon Jenkins, S Jose Gumbs, OG Josh LeRibeus and NT Chris Neild inactive for Week 10 against the Vikings.

Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) is active. According to CSN Washington, Davis is losing $500,000 in playing-time incentives by being inactive for the fifth time this evening. Otherwise, it's a quiet list for a Redskins team with relatively few injury issues heading into Week 10.

Fred Davis admitted to "nodding off" during meetings.

"I've never slept through a whole meeting, but I've nodded off," Davis said after Wednesday's practice. "I mean, everyone nods off. It's dark in there. You nod off. You wake up -- go get something to drink and go back." Davis sounds like a guy trying to get released because he's disgruntled with his role behind Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen. He said he "definitely" hoped he got moved at the deadline and claims his two straight healthy scratches are connected to the per-game active roster bonuses in his contract. Davis will only make an impact this season if Reed got hurt.

Profootballtalk reports the Redskins are "aggressively shopping" Fred Davis.

PFT had a similar report last Monday. The trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 PM ET. The Redskins would likely take anything for Davis at this point. He's been a healthy inactive the past two weeks. PFT adds that if the Redskins can't deal Davis, there's a chance they'd cut him. Davis would be subject to waivers if that happened. Davis can catch the ball, so if you own him in deep fantasy leagues, it might be worth holding onto him to see if he gets out of D.C.

Redskins declared TE Fred Davis, QB Rex Grossman, RB Chris Thompson, S Reed Doughty, LB Brandon Jenkins, OG Josh LeRibeus and NT Chris Neild inactive for Week 8 against the Broncos.

It's Davis' second straight healthy scratch. He's a candidate to be traded ahead of Tuesday's deadline, though he's unlikely to generate much, if any, interest. With Doughty concussed and Brandon Meriweather suspended, the Redskins are starting Jose Gumbs and Bacarri Rambo at safety. It's not a good situation against Peyton Manning.

Speaking in a Tuesday radio interview, Fred Davis said he hasn't requested a trade, but hinted he would be open to one.

"At the end of the day, I look at it as I'm a Redskin right now until I hear differently," Davis said. "I want to help my team any way I can until then. ... If I get traded, something happens, that's what happens." A healthy scratch for Sunday's win, Davis is reportedly on the block. His fantasy value will be in the gutter for as long as he's in Washington, while a trade will be far from a guarantee to resurrect it.

A league source tells Profootballtalk the Redskins are "trying to trade" Fred Davis.

It's hardly a surprise after Davis was a healthy scratch on Sunday. Davis was an ascendant player in 2011, but has seen his career derailed by injury, suspension and ineffectiveness. Selling extremely low, the Redskins likely wouldn't be able to get more than a conditional late-round pick.

Redskins declared Fred Davis inactive for Sunday's Week 7 game against the Bears.

Davis is nursing a minor ankle injury, but he was fully expected to be able to play through it. This has less to with the ankle and far more to do with the eye-opening emergence of rookie Jordan Reed. Reed is a low-end TE1 option the every-down pass-catching tight end, with Logan Paulsen as the in-line complement. The rest of the Redskins inactives: RB Chris Thompson, S Bacarri Rambo, LB Brandon Jenkins, QB Rex Grossman, G Josh LeRibeus and DL Chris Neild.

Fred Davis (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday.

Davis has fallen to No. 3 on the depth chart behind Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen. Davis didn't have a catch last week and should be dropped in all formats.
