Ravens placed CB Aaron Ross on injured reserve with a torn Achilles tendon, ending his season.
It's merely a procedural move after Ross tore his Achilles' on a conditioning test earlier this week. He's done for the year and will struggle to attract interest as a 32-year-old coming off a major injury next offseason. Dominique Franks will compete for Baltimore's No. 5 corner job.

Ravens CB Aaron Ross tore his Achilles' tendon during a conditioning test.
Ross missed most of last season due to a back injury and now he's likely done for this year as well. Going on 32, he's nearing the end of the line. Ross wasn't a lock to make the Ravens' final roster anyway.

Ravens signed CB Aaron Ross.
The Ravens have also added fellow veteran CB Dominique Franks. Ross appeared in only four games for the Giants last season before landing on injured reserve with a back injury. He worked out for the cornerback-needy Lions in April, but had otherwise drawn zero interest in free agency. Going on 32, Ross is just a depth signing.

Free agent CB Aaron Ross will participate in Ravens minicamp on a tryout basis.
Ross worked out for the Lions in April. It's probably telling that corner-needy Detroit didn't sign him. Now going on age 32, Ross was a slot corner and punt returner in his prime. He's quite a ways removed from those years.

Free agent CB Aaron Ross worked out for the Lions on Tuesday.
It's Ross' first-known visit. Back with the Giants last season after a one-year sabbatical in Jacksonville, Ross appeared in only four games before a back injury sent him to injured reserve. He'd be a piece of veteran depth for the Lions' unsettled secondary.

Giants placed CB Aaron Ross on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season.
It's a surprising move, but Ross was dealing with at least a multi-week back injury and the Giants couldn't afford to keep him on the active roster. CB Charles James is being promoted from the practice squad, while FS Will Hill has been reinstated from suspension. Ross, 31, will finish 2013 with four tackles and an interception over four games (two starts). He'll be a free agent again this offseason.

Giants CB Aaron Ross left Sunday's Week 4 game against the Chiefs with a back injury.
Ross is officially doubtful to return. He was doing a solid job on Dwayne Bowe for much of the day.

Giants CB Aaron Ross will get the start opposite Prince Amukamara this week versus Carolina with Corey Webster (hip, doubtful) likely to sit out.
Ross, 31, has 50 career starts under his belt, starting nine games for Jacksonville last season a year after registering 15 starts for the Giants. However, he's coming off a Week 2 loss to the Broncos where he didn't play a single snap. Ross then said he didn't know what his role was with the team. This is shaping up as a stellar matchup for Cam Newton and Steve Smith.

Giants signed CB Aaron Ross, formerly of the Jaguars.
The Giants are bringing back the player they made the No. 20 pick of the 2007 draft after he spent one (unsuccessful) season in Jacksonville. Ross started 15 games for the G-Men in 2011, but may begin no higher than fourth on the depth chart. Going on 31, Ross had a rough go of it in coverage last season.

Jaguars released CB Aaron Ross.
Ross was just one year into the three-year, $9.75 million pact he signed last March. He started nine games in 2012, but wasn't effective. He was benched twice, and didn't start after Week 13. By releasing Ross, the Jaguars have just Mike Harris and Kevin Rutland under contract at cornerback. They could be ready to spend in a deep corner market.
