CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman saw free agent QB JaMarcus Russell at a hotel near LSU Saturday morning and said Russell "looked like an offensive tackle." Russell has always been a big guy, but this suggests his attempt at a comeback is over. The 28-year-old trained hard last offseason in hopes of getting another chance in the NFL. A knee injury and constant weight issues quickly derailed that. The odds we see Russell play in the NFL again are as long as they get.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent QB JaMarcus Russell is still working on his weight and battling a knee issue. Russell just can't stay in shape and is missing a golden opportunity with so many quarterbacks battling injuries this season. The longer it takes the former No. 1 overall pick to get in shape, the longer the odds become that he'll ever get another chance in the NFL. Russell turned 28 years old in August.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday Countdown that the Titans reached out to free agent JaMarcus Russell this past week. Russell turned them down because he's currently rehabbing a knee injury, but it's clear there's at least some level of NFL interest in the biggest bust in league history. Russell's comeback is not over, and Schefter predicted he still has a good chance of resurfacing in the pros before the season is up. The Titans have quarterback interest after losing Jake Locker (hip, knee).

FOX Sports reports free agent JaMarcus Russell is struggling again with weight control and has also experienced "swelling" in one of his knees. While Matt Leinart and Trent Edwards are getting signed, Russell remains on the street due to weight and knee woes. He needs to show he can consistently keep himself under 300 pounds for any team to take a serious shot. Russell was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. He turned 28 earlier this month.

The Raiders have settled a grievance with free agent JaMarcus Russell over his rookie contract, reportedly agreeing to pay out $3 million. The Raiders alleged after Russell's May 2010 release that he owed the team $9.55 million as part of a prior restructuring, but Russell quickly struck back with a counter-grievance, saying he was owed an additional $9 million. The sides had been set to go to court. Russell's "comeback" has been treading water after he worked out for the Bears early last month.

A recent photo posted by TEST performance academy shows free agent JaMarcus Russell has indeed shed a large amount of weight since beginning his comeback attempt in the late winter. The picture is accessible at the below link. Russell was said to have begun his comeback in the 310-315 pound range. During his June 7 workout at the Bears' facility, Russell reportedly weighed in at 267. In the below photo, he looks even slimmer than that. We suspect Russell's chances of being signed by an NFL team before or during training camp are slightly better than 50:50.

Updating a previous item, the Ravens do not have a workout scheduled with free agent JaMarcus Russell. Russell was apparently under the impression he'd visit the Ravens next, following his Bears tryout. Nothing has been finalized yet. Still, it's a good sign for Russell's football future that his name is making the rounds again. He's got his weight down to 267 pounds and multiple teams are showing interest.

According to ESPN's Ed Werder, free agent JaMarcus Russell believes he'll soon work out for the Ravens. Russell reportedly made the disclosure at last Friday's Bears tryout. As was the case with Chicago, we doubt Russell would be working out for the Ravens with an eye toward a contract, but instead an addition to their emergency list. Getting workouts is just the first step in Russell's long-shot comeback bid.

Free agent JaMarcus Russell weighed 267 pounds at his Bears workout Friday. For points of reference, Russell measured 6-foot-5 1/2, 265 at the 2007 NFL Scouting Combine. He was supposedly 311 pounds when his comeback began. While ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Russell will not be signed by the Bears, the weigh-in at least confirms Russell is serious about his comeback attempt. Russell's trainer, Jeff Garcia, says JaMarcus is willing to take his talents to Canada if no NFL teams want to sign the 27-year-old.

The Chicago Tribune says Friday's JaMarcus Russell workout is merely a chance to update their emergency list. Russell isn't going to come out of the workout with a contract. The Bears are reportedly "very pleased" with backups Josh McCown/Matt Blanchard, and are not looking to add a fourth quarterback. Teams are always bringing in street free agents for workouts so they can be ready to pounce in case injuries strike.
