Free has decided to retire from the NFL, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
A mainstay on the Cowboys' offensive line for the last seven seasons, Free has started all but five games over that span. The 33-year-old played a total of 10 NFL seasons and will leave a hole on one of the league's best offensive lines heading into 2017.

Free (foot) appears to be completely healthy after undergoing a successful surgery back in January.
EDGE Analysis
Free underwent surgery to repair his injured foot nearly nine months ago, but after rehabbing all offseason, the 32-year-old has shown no signs of any limitations. As evident by his performance on Sunday, Free looks poised for another strong season in Dallas.

Free is recovering well from January foot surgery, ESPN's Todd Archer reports. "He's been dealing with that foot for a little bit, but Doug is a tough guy and we feel like that's going to be behind him and he'll be ready to go," head coach Jason Garrett said.
EDGE Analysis
The Cowboys' starting right tackle missed five games in 2014 and had surgery on the same foot last offseason which didn't fully resolve the issue, and Free played through soreness in 2015. The team is hopeful that this second procedure will finally allow him to return to his pre-injury form, shoring up arguably the weakest link on Dallas' elite offensive line.

Free won't participate in next week's OTAs as he continues his recovery from ankle surgery, Mickey Spagnola of DallasCowboys.com reports. Free should be fine to take his spot at right tackle by the time Week 1 rolls around, but in the meantime new depth O-linemen Chaz Green, Laurence Gibson and possibly La'el Collins will get some reps at the position.

Free has signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys, Todd Archer of ESPN reports. This takes one of the top free-agent tackles off the board and allows the Cowboys to return what was one of the best offensive lines in football. As far as fantasy goes, the outlook of whoever ends up starting at running back for Dallas has just gotten a little better.

Free will undergo ankle surgery next week, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports. The ankle injury cost him his starting spot at right tackle at the end of the season, allowing Jermey Parnell to audition for a full-time gig in his place. Both Free and Parnell are free agents this offseason, so the Cowboys will have some decisions to make.
