Michael Bush RB CHI 9 Months

Michael Bush managed one rush for 15 yards in the Bears' Week 13 loss to the Vikings.

Bush has only "vultured" two goal-line scores from Matt Forte all season. He has no fantasy value other than as a handcuff to cautious Forte owners.

Michael Bush rushed seven times for -5 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Rams.

He caught one pass for 10 yards. It was an embarrassing effort for Bush, who could convert just one of five carries from the Rams' one-yard line for a touchdown. Twice Bush was stopped for a loss from the one, including once on fourth down. He also dropped a catchable pass on a 2nd-and-goal in the third quarter. An ineffective player in coach Marc Trestman's scheme, the Bears need to stop subbing Bush in for Matt Forte in money situations.

NFL writer Dan Pompei believes there's a possibility the Bears release Michael Bush in the offseason.

Pompei has covered the NFL for nearly 30 years and has ties to the Chicago area. Under new coach Marc Trestman, Bush is nothing more than a guy to give Matt Forte a breather. With a $2.8 million salary in the third year of a four-year deal in 2014, Bush may -- and likely will -- be deemed expendable. He's averaging just 2.1 YPC on 35 carries this season and isn't a factor in the passing game.

Michael Bush rushed three times for five yards in Week 11 against the Ravens.

As is normally the case, Bush came in just to give Matt Forte a quick breather and wasn't involved in the passing game. Bush is purely a handcuff.

Michael Bush rushed one time for no gain in Week 10 against the Lions.

Bush's lone chance came on a fourth-and-one carry which he failed to convert. Bush is just a handcuff -- not a particularly appealing one -- for Matt Forte owners.

Michael Bush rushed for 25 yards on seven carries in Week 9 against the Packers.

Bush added one catch for 15 yards. He failed to convert his lone goal-line chance from the one-yard line in the second quarter. Matt Forte came in on second-and-goal and scooted in for the touchdown. Bush is just a handcuff.

Michael Bush did not receive a touch in Sunday's Week 7 loss at Washington.

Bush isn't a vulture threat to Matt Forte and isn't even getting on the field anymore. Over the last four weeks, he's averaging 2.0 carries per game. Bush is just a handcuff.

Michael Bush rushed for 12 yards on two carries in Week 5 versus the Saints.

Bush wasn't targeted in the passing game and maybe played ten snaps. The Bears were playing from behind for much of the day. Bush is purely a handcuff.

Michael Bush played only two snaps in the Bears' Week 4 loss to the Lions.

Matt Forte was an every-snap player because the Bears were playing from behind. "We want Michael to be part of our football," coach Marc Trestman said Monday. Bush didn't touch the ball, while Forte parlayed 19 touches into 117 yards and a touchdown. Bush is only a handcuff in fantasy football leagues.

Coach Marc Trestman told reporters Monday that Michael Bush will be the Bears' goal-line back going forward.

Matt Forte has scored each of his two early-season touchdowns on runs from or inside the five-yard line, but when the Bears are at the opposing one, Bush is going to get the call in most situations. "We've kind of isolated and declared Michael our goal-line running back," said Trestman. Fantasy owners can't depend on random week-to-week goal-line scores, leaving Bush as a mere handcuff. It could cost Forte TD chances over the course of the year, but Forte is playing too well for it to matter. He's the No. 5 overall fantasy back through three games.
