Ahmad Bradshaw (neck surgery) was medically cleared on Friday and is participating in OTAs.

Bradshaw didn't take part in the non-contact practices last week but was back out on the field Monday for the first time since Week 3. He anticipates having to go through another battery of tests before training camp when contact is allowed, so he's yet to be 100 percent cleared. But it's a step in the right direction. Bradshaw and Vick Ballard will compete for No. 2 duties behind Trent Richardson.

Ahmad Bradshaw (neck surgery) isn't participating in this week's OTAs sessions.

Bradshaw is also highly questionable for next month's minicamp. Whatever contributions the Colts get from Bradshaw this season will be a bonus.

Ahmad Bradshaw (neck surgery) says he "feels great," but isn't yet 100 percent.

"I'm starting to touch the field and run a lot more," Bradshaw said. "It's all upside for me." However, Bradshaw also admitted his surgically-repaired foot was a source of pain in 2013. Any contributions the Colts get from Bradshaw in 2014 will be a bonus.

Colts re-signed RB Ahmad Bradshaw to a one-year contract.

It's likely near the veteran's minimum. Bradshaw will turn 28 next week and hasn't been 100 percent healthy in some time. He's coming off neck surgery and has chronic foot problems. If healthy, he'll be a nice complement to Trent Richardson. Vick Ballard will also be in the mix for No. 2 duties.

The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts and free agent Ahmad Bradshaw have engaged in contract negotiations.

The Colts reportedly "haven't closed the door" on a Bradshaw return. Both ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells and the Star opined last month that it's unlikely Bradshaw re-signs, especially with Vick Ballard returning from a torn ACL and Bradshaw's own injury history. Bradshaw will turn 28 in two weeks and is coming off neck surgery. He likely won't sign until the second or third wave of free agency.

The Indianapolis Star agrees with ESPN Colts blogger Mike Wells that free agent Ahmad Bradshaw is unlikely to be re-signed.

Indy Star beat writer Stephen Holder believes Bradshaw was the Colts' best back when healthy in 2013, but Bradshaw's lack of durability has made him a poor investment for NFL clubs. "If he does return, it will be an attempt to add depth, at most," writes Holder. Bradshaw turns 28 in March. He's missed 19 games over the past three seasons and underwent neck surgery in October.

Impending free agent Ahmad Bradshaw (neck, injured reserve) plans to play in 2014.

"That's the plan," Bradshaw said. "Get ready for next season." According to Bradshaw, there's a chance he could have already been back on the field had he not been placed on injured reserve. Bradshaw is still only 27, and boasts a career 4.6 yards per carry. However, he has serious foot and neck issues to his name, and is going to have trouble landing guaranteed money in free agency, just like he did in 2013.

Profootballtalk reports Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) has decided to undergo surgery, and will miss the rest of the season.

Bradshaw tried rest and rehab for two weeks, but wasn't progressing at the necessary rate. Coupled with his chronic foot issues, Bradshaw's latest neck injury has his career in doubt even though he's only 27. Bradshaw was running well before going down, averaging 4.5 yards on 41 carries. His injury underscores why the Colts acquired Trent Richardson, and leaves T-Rich as Indy's clear lead back. Donald Brown is Richardson's handcuff. For his career, Bradshaw has averaged 4.6 yards per carry, and caught 139 passes in 87 games.
