Matt Prater K DET 17 Hrs
Prater made three of his four field-goal attempts in Sunday's 34-9 loss to the Patriots.
For the second straight game, the Lions failed to find the end zone, leading to numerous opportunities for Prater. He connected from 48, 20 and 49 yards, but missed a 53-yard attempt wide left late in the first half. Still, Prater now has four straight multi-FG games and is a decent option again Thursday against the Bears.

Prater hit both of his field goal attempts in Week 11's 14-6 loss to the Cardinals.
Prater is averaging seven points a game through five games with the Lions, a figure that provides him with some deep league utility, but he's well off the pace that led to a 150-point output with Denver last season.

Prater hit his only field goal attempt of the day Sunday against the Saints.
It was a much quieter outing for Prater than his debut, but that's something he likely welcomed with open arms. His only kick came from 21 yards out and hit also connected on three PATs.

Prater hit just one of his three field goal attempts in his debut with the Lions on Sunday.
While Prater didn't have a great showing in his first game with his new team, he did manage to knock his second attempt through the uprights from 52 yards out. The Lions haven't had good luck with their kickers thus far, using three different people that have combined to make just five of 15 attempts this season. All of Prater's attempts came from 44-plus out so it's a little more forgivable. The Lions face the Saints this week, which could turn into a shootout with plenty of opportunities for the veteran kicker.

Prater will sign a one-year contract with the Lions, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
It took Prater just four days to find a new employer, after he was unceremoniously released by the Broncos last week. Named to the All-Pro team last season, Prater was suspended for the first four games of 2014 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, but he showed he still has plenty of leg by beating out Jay Feely and Connor Barth in a three-way kick-off at the Lions' complex Tuesday. Prater holds the record for the longest field goal in NFL history (64 yards) and missed just one of 26 attempts in 2013.

Prater is expected to sign with the Lions, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.
The Broncos surprised many by releasing Prater after he was done serving his four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, but it sounds like the All-Pro kicker will be back under contract shortly. Nothing is official just yet, but Prater reportedly beat out Jay Feely and Connor Barth in a three-way kick-off at the Lions' headquarters Tuesday. Last season, Prater connected on 25 of 26 field goal attempts, including an NFL record 64-yarder, and he is 21-for-27 from beyond 50 yards in his career.

Prater and Jay Feely are slated to work out for Lions on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The Lions are looking to replace Alex Henery, who was released on Monday, with the kicker that the team decides on worthy of a pickup by those looking for a bye week plug-in, or, of course, a replacement for Henery.

Prater, who is three games into a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, was released by the Broncos on Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Prater was expected to be one of the best fantasy kickers this season coming off an excellent 2013 campaign that saw him connect on 25-of-26 field goal attempts, including an NFL record 64-yarder, and a remarkable 75-of-75 on PATs. However, he was hit with the alcohol-related suspension in August and was replaced by Brandon McManus, who will resume the kicking duties for at least the rest of the season. Prater, who will cost the Broncos $4.1 million in cap space next season, is certainly good enough to grab another NFL job, so he's unlikely to be unemployed for long.

Prater will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, the Denver Post reports.
The suspension was alcohol-related, the Post reports. Prater has been in the league's alcohol program since he was charged with a DUI in 2011. With Prater suspended, it's not clear if Denver will stick with backup kicker Mitch Ewald or sign a veteran for the first four games.

Broncos K Matt Prater kicked an NFL-record 75 extra points in the 2013 regular season.
Prater broke Stephen Gostkowski's previous record of 74 extra points set in 2007. While Prater kicked just 25 field goals last season (tied for 18th), his record-breaking extra points tally propelled him to finish the season as fantasy's No. 2 kicker.
