The Patriots are set to release Washington.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran was unable to show enough this summer to land a spot on the Patriots' 53-man roster, with the move probably representing good news for fellow wideout Keshawn Martin, in terms of his chances of sticking with the team. Meanwhile, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, DeAndre Carter and Devin Lucien are also in the mix for depth WR slotting.

Washington had a strong practice Sunday, the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
NESN.com described the effort as Washington's "best practice of camp," with the wideout making five catches during team drills Sunday. After missing practice time earlier this month, Washington suited up for the Patriots' preseason opener this past Thursday, but did not have a ball thrown in his direction. Washington is battling the likes of Aaron Dobson, Keshawn Martin, DeAndre Carter, Chris Harper and Devin Lucien for depth slotting on the Patriots' wideout depth chart, with Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell widely considered roster locks.

Washington could be on the Patriots' roster bubble.
EDGE Analysis
At this stage, health permitting, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell top the Patriots' wideout depth chart, with Washington slated to battle for depth slotting with Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson and Chris Harper. Whether the quartet ends up battling for just one spot (or more) depends on the team's injury situation, but for now, Washington has yet to gain much traction in the competition, after reportedly seeming to struggle to get on the same page as QB Tom Brady during OTAs and minicamp. When he's on, Washington still has the ability to serve as a deep threat, but the veteran wideout will need to impress in training camp to land a roster spot with New England.

The Patriots will sign Washington, ESPN's Field Yates reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington figures to transition well to the Patriots' offense, having played this past season with the Texans, who are coached by former New England offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien. The 6-foot-1, 183-pound wideout, who turns 33 in August, can still present a downfield option at this stage of his career, and with the Patriots looking for an added outside presence at the position, Washington could be a solid complement to the likes of Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and fellow newcomer Chris Hogan. Washington is coming off a 2015 campaign in which he recorded 47 catches for 658 yards and four TDs with the Texans over 14 games.

Washington visited the Patriots on Monday, WEEI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old wideout can still present a downfield option at this stage of his career, and with the Patriots looking for a little depth at the position, he could be a solid fit, at the right price. Washington is coming off a 2015 campaign in which he recorded 47 catches for 658 yards and four TDs with the Texans.

Washington caught one of six targets for three yards in Saturday's playoff loss to the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
Washington, like every ball catcher, was hampered by the poor play of quarterback Brian Hoyer in the 30-0 loss to Kansas City. He finished the regular season second on the team in receptions (47), targets (94) and yards (658), though he was rarely a difference maker. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in March and could re-sign with Houston, but with several holes to fill, the Texans won't be focused on the wideout position.

Washington (hip) is listed as active Saturday against the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
After injuring his hip in the season finale, Washington logged just two limited practices this week, but the ailment won't stop him from taking part in the do-or-die matchup. He didn't exactly end the season in the high note, failing to surpass 50 yards in each of the last eight games, which doesn't bode well against Kansas City's ninth-ranked pass defense.

Washington (hip) is considered probable for Saturday's playoff game versus the Chiefs, the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Washington tweaked his hip during Sunday's regular season finale against the Jaguars, but he's still expected to suit up for this weekend's postseason tilt, providing a veteran target opposite star wideout DeAndre Hopkins.

Washington (hip) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Washington sat out practice Wednesday, but his return to work Thursday -- albeit in a limited capacity -- bodes well for the wideout's chances of suiting up for Saturday's playoff opener against the Chiefs.

Washington (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Texans' injury report in advance of Saturday's game against the the Chiefs is rather lengthy, but as one of just two Houston players who was listed as a non-participant at practice Wednesday, Washington's status for the team's playoff opener is worth monitoring.
