Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said that he wouldn't bring in other kickers to look at this week, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Though Nugent has missed six kicks this year, he has earned a longer respite due to his body of work and his long kickoffs. That, and the potential pool of replacements isn't that inspiring.

Nugent missed a 36-yard field goal attempt at the end of overtime Sunday against the Panthers, making the game result in a tie.

The miss was Nugent's sixth of the season. He made three other attempts Sunday, but obviously all the attention will be paid to the miss, which was a clunker to the right. "A pathetic hit," Nugent said of his wide right. "It was probably the worst hit I ever had in a game in my career."

Nugent's three misses in Week 2 against the Falcons marked the first time he's missed three kicks in one game in his career.

Nugent said that his first missed kick Sunday begat the next one. "I kind of shocked myself and I did a bad job of overcompensating," Nugent said before Thursday's practice. "That's the first day of kicking. Don't overcompensate." Given how reliable Nugent has been in the past, he still has reasonable job security.

Nugent converted five-of-six field goal attempts en route to 15 total points in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Ravens.

Nugent made good from 49, 22, 28, 46, and 38 yards on his five respective field goals, with his only miss coming off a blocked attempt from 45 yards. That performance allowed Nugent to finish Week 1 tied for the lead in points scored among kickers.

Nugent's teammate, Quinn Sharp, was released by the Bengals on Monday, the The Sports Xchange reports.

The report notes that Sharp served as "a camp leg" to keep Nugent from being overworked during the preseason, as opposed to actually competing for the team's kicking assignment. In any case, in advance of Week 1, a presumably healthy Nugent is the only kicker the Bengals currently roster.

Bengals re-signed K Mike Nugent.

Cincinnati opted for Nugent over Josh Brown, who kicked them to the playoffs last season. Nugent, 31, made 19-of-23 field goals last season before landing on injured reserve in Week 17 with a calf injury. The Bengals have now re-signed all of their specialists.

Bengals placed K Mike Nugent (calf) on injured reserve, ending his season, and promoted CB Chris Lewis-Harris from the practice squad.

The Bengals will move forward with Josh Brown at kicker. Lewis-Harris is an undrafted rookie. Nugent, 30, donned Cincinnati's franchise tag in 2012, collecting a guaranteed $2.654 million. He'll be a free agent this offseason.

Bengals K Mike Nugent (calf) practiced in full Wednesday.

It's Nugent's first full practice since pulling his calf ahead of Week 14. We'll know he's ready to kick in Week 17 if the Bengals release Josh Brown, who has gone 8-of-9 on field goals while filling in.

Bengals declared Mike Nugent (calf) inactive for Week 16 against the Steelers.

Josh Brown will continue to start with Nugent missing the last three games. The rest of the Bengals inactives are CB Dre Kirkpatrick, RB Dan Herron, FS George Iloka, and DT Devon Still. Kirkpatrick has yet to receive medical clearance from a Week 13 concussion and remains out indefinitely. RB Cedric Peerman is active, as expected.

Bengals K Mike Nugent (calf) was downgraded to a missed practice on Thursday.

The Bengals expected their kicking decision to come down to a game-time call this week. It now looks like Josh Brown has the inside track to get the nod versus the Steelers.
