49ers waived RB Brandon Jacobs.

Brandon Jacobs expressed frustration with his role in San Francisco by saying he is "on this team rotting away."

"This is by far the worst year I ever had, I'll tell you like I told plenty others," said Jacobs. The comments were posted on Jacobs' Instagram account after fans threw a fit because he posted pictures of himself playing for the Giants, instead of the 49ers. Despite being a good teammate for much of the season, Jacobs' frustration is starting to boil over. He has just five carries for seven yards on the season and isn't expected to be much of a factor down the stretch, even with Kendall Hunter out.

Audibles - Week 14 (fantasysharks.com)

So you've managed to get into your league's playoffs? There will always be a need for fill-in players because of injury. This, as they say, is for all the marbles. You may need a running back this week as LeSean McCoy is still out and you didn't have the foresight to grab Bryce Brown. Well it's time to look at the opportunities that you can take advantage of.

Billal Powell is available in a pretty large percentage of leagues. Powell is involved in a timeshare with Shonn Greene who has under-impressed as of late. Both backs will run well this week and although Powell played 43 percent of snaps as opposed to Greene's 48 percent, there is still value there. Powell can be started as a low-end flex with some upside because he is the primary goal line back. Pair that with the change at quarterback, and there could be more carries for both backs.

Rashad Jennings will enter the concussion program this week according to Mike Mularkey. Maurice Jones-Drew is not ready and with Jalen Parmele out. There is a real question mark as to who gets the ball. Montell Owens looks like the front runner as the starter with Jordan Todman, and Richard Murphy as the reserves. The Jets will give up plenty on the ground as well. So this may be just the play that one team needs to fill in for an injured back.

James Starks sure looked the part last week as he got to the edge and outraced Vikings defenders for a touchdown. The problem is that every time he shows some promise, it ends with a trip to the injury report. This was the first time that I saw Starks really turn it on. Any back not named Cedric Benson is seriously not the answer. The answer here is if you have Green that you can rest assured that he will get the majority of carries only to be vultured by John Kuhn at the stripe.

The signing of Donte Stallworth means that Julian Edelman is indeed done for the season. Stallworth will be a pretty deep option on the depth chart. I suspect that Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Aaron Hernandez, and Shane Vereen should see an uptick in targets. Grab Stallworth only if you are desperate.

Dallas Clark is starting to get enough targets to be fantasy worthy. I had that inclination last week and grabbed him off of the wire. He had a nice catch in the end zone on a play clearly designed to get him the ball. He has big red zone potential as teams stack the box against Doug Martin. If you can still grab him, do so. He will be a decent play this week against the Eagles, and a pretty...

Audibles - Week 13 (fantasysharks.com)

Last week I told you that Bryce Brown was an exceptional one week fill-in. Well, folks, I am here to repent because I lied. The truth is he may just be a two week fill-in. LeSean McCoy is making extremely slow progress, and he may not play again this week. Honestly, the Philadelphia Eagles are out of the playoff hunt altogether. The team is in complete shambles. If coach Andy Reid hasn't lost the clubhouse at this point, I wonder what the team looks like when he does. If you are a star like McCoy, I wonder what your incentive is to show up this week and play. I don't see any point to risking your future on a collection of stiffs. It's terrific to see every rookie that is on the Eagles roster playing together in what I see as a traveling carnival.

Brandon Boykin was stripped on a kick return and the Carolina Panthers recovered, and Brown lost two fumbles in Monday Night's loss. If you think the Eagles will play it safe with Dion Lewis this week, you are crazy. They are a team with nothing to lose. Why not give Brown another 20 carries and see what he can do? That is exactly what they should do. Start Brown this week on the road in Dallas because it's the one wow factor that they have left.

Nick Foles looked pedestrian except for his precision on a couple of out routes. Foles will be without DeSean Jackson, who was put on Injured Reserve after fracturing his ribs. Frankly, Jackson has been a disappointment the last few seasons. His touchdown production has sharply declined since his 2009 breakout year. I left him off my draft board entirely this year.

Foles has only thrown one touchdown in his last three games while throwing three interceptions. I hate to kick Philadelphia fans in the chops, but this is a rotting carcass that even the vultures are afraid to eat off of. And now Jason Babin was released in a movement to get the youth more playing time? At the end of the day, this business wanted to save some money on a player that wasn't exactly with the program.

Coach Jim Harbaugh has been coy as to who the starting quarterback will be. I'll help you out this week because it's Colin Kaepernick. Alex Smith will look great under center in Kansas City next year. He has a short-term contract and will be a career backup or starter for a doormat team.

When Kendall Hunter went down last Sunday ending his season, it opened the door for one of three players. Brandon Jacobs, Anthony Dixon and LaMichael James will all be in line for carries. Jacobs has...

CSN Bay Area expects Brandon Jacobs to get the first crack at replacing Kendall Hunter as Frank Gore's primary backup.

It's the reason why Jacobs was kept on the roster as a healthy scratch for most of the season. LaMichael James has a good chance to be active with a few package plays, but he's behind Jacobs on the depth chart.

49ers declared RB Brandon Jacobs, QB Scott Tolzien, WR A.J. Jenkins, RB LaMichael James, S Trent Robinson, G Joe Looney and NT Ian Williams inactive for Week 10 against the Rams.

There are no surprises for a team that enters Week 10 as one of the healthier clubs in the league. However, there are questions about why the 49ers signed Jacobs, or used early draft picks on Jenkins and James if they were never going to play. All three players are well off the radar in redraft fantasy leagues.

Brandon Jacobs confirmed that he's 100 percent healthy despite Monday night's scratch.

Credit Jacobs for not rocking the boat. "I'm ready whenever coach calls my name," he said. "I can't do anything about what's going on, but I can work hard and show coach that I'm ready, that I'm healthy." As long as Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter are healthy, there's no room for Jacobs.
