Redskins ILB London Fletcher said he'd consider returning in 2014 for a playoff contender. Fletcher announced two weeks ago that he was "99 percent certain" that he will retire at the end of the 2013 season. When asked what the one percent was left for, Fletcher said, "It would have to be maybe a team that has six games left, a playoff contender. It won't be for a 16-game season." Fletcher's contract with the Redskins expires after this season. He'll turn 39 in May.

Redskins MLB London Fletcher sustained a sprained ankle during the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Giants. Fletcher said he wouldn't know how severe the sprain is until Monday. The league's leader in consecutive games played at a remarkable 252 should be considered questionable for the Week 14 home game against the Chiefs. Fletcher is having yet another solid IDP season, averaging 7.0 tackles per game to go with two sacks and one forced fumble.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher is taking some plays off this season. Fletcher, the league's leader at 243 consecutive games played, has almost never come off the field during his 16-year career. But this year, he's allowing backup Nick Barnett to give him a series or two off per game. Fletcher is averaging just 7.6 tackles per game so far this year after getting 8.6 in 2012 and 10.3 in 2011.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher says he dealt with "balance issues" early last season after suffering a concussion in the preseason. The Redskins never announced Fletcher's injury, and he missed just one preseason game. Fletcher says his balance issues continued through late October, but claims they were "something with (his) neck." The fact that Fletcher was still having "balance issues" during the regular season is alarming, and further proof of how far the league still has to go with regards to head injuries. Declining, 2013 is likely to be Fletcher's final season.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher admits he never seriously considered retirement. "I'm still playing at a high level, the team still wanted me to play," Fletcher said. "So, a lot of those things come into play." Despite Fletcher's assertion, his play has slipped in recent seasons. The Redskins seem to value his leadership above all else. There's a good chance 2013 will be the 38-year-old linebacker's final season.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher (elbow surgery, ankle surgery) has resumed weightlifting. Fletcher will likely get in very few reps during the Redskins' offseason program, but should be 100 percent by the time Week 1 rolls around. Going on 38 and headed into the final year of his contract, there's a good chance 2013 will be Fletcher's last season.

The Redskins will not ask ILB London Fletcher to restructure his contract. Fletcher is owed $5.5 million in real money for 2013 and will count $6.2 million against the cap. It's a lot to pay for a 38-year-old that graded out 51st among 53 qualifying inside linebackers last season according to Pro Football Focus, but Fletcher's value stretches deeper. He's the quintessential team leader and defensive coordinator on the field for the Redskins.

Redskins ILB London Fletcher says he'll return in 2013 if he can "get myself healthy enough to play." "(If I can) play at the level I am capable of playing, I will be back," Fletcher said on NFL Network. It's essentially the same song Fletcher's been singing all offseason, though this is the first time he's definitively said he'll play if healthy. It's very hard to see Fletcher walking away from $5.5 million.
