The Jaguars continued negotiations with unsigned franchise player Josh Scobee over the weekend.
The two sides have been steadily talking for two weeks now as Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline approaches. Scobee is likely seeking something in the range of Matt Prater's recent four-year, $13 million contract with the Broncos. If no deal is hammered out, Scobee will kick for $2.88 million on a one-year franchise tag tender.

The Jaguars have resumed contract talks with unsigned franchise player Josh Scobee.
Scobee's agent said in late June that the sides hadn't spoken in "months," so the Jags now appear to be operating with urgency 12 days before the deadline for franchise players to sign long-term deals. Matt Prater's recent four-year, $13 million contract has given the sides a baseline from which to work. Prater's deal included $4.25 million guaranteed with a $3 million signing bonus.

Unsigned franchise player Josh Scobee suggested a training-camp holdout is possible after the Jaguars cut off contract talks in April.
Scobee is just blowing off steam because he doesn't believe the organization is negotiating in good faith. Although he's not sure if he will attend camp, Scobee concedes that missing regular-season isn't a viable option. Like all franchise players, he has zero leverage.

The player rep for unsigned Jaguars franchise player K Josh Scobee confirms the sides haven't had talks "in months."
The deadline to sign franchise players to long-term deals is July 16. "We know our last proposal is very fair," Scobee's agent said. "Josh and I will certainly discuss each of his options as July 16 approaches." Scobee's only "option" after July 16 will be to sign his $2.88 million tender. He'll be in camp.

The Jaguars haven't spoken with unsigned franchise player K Josh Scobee for "months."
"We tried to, relative to the market, be fair with our players and we'll continue to work to get a long-term deal done," said GM Gene Smith. "... "I anticipate him kicking for us this season and hopefully that's the case in the future."

Long-term contract talks between the Jaguars and franchise player K Josh Scobee have stalled.
Scobee received the non-exclusive franchise tag, but has yet to sign. A source tells the Florida Times Union that the four year, $16 million contract Sebastian Janikowski signed with Oakland two years ago is a reason for the stalled talks. Scobee nailed 92-percent of his field goals in 2011, which was third best in the NFL. Appropriately named Long Ding is the team's only kicker under contract.

Jaguars assigned the franchise tag to K Josh Scobee.
Scobee is the fourth kicker to be franchised this offseason. The Jaguars' kicker since being a fifth-round pick in 2004, Scobee's 92 percent field-goal percentage was third in the NFL last season. He is 15-of-22 on kicks of 50 yards or longer since 2008.

The Florida Times Union reports that there is a "significant gap" in contract aspirations between the Jaguars and free agent Josh Scobee.
The Jags can franchise tag Scobee if talks fall through, so they have the most leverage. Though both sides agree that staying in Jacksonville is Scobee's best option, he may be angling to become the NFL's highest paid kicker.

The Jaguars have begun "very preliminary discussions" with free agent K Josh Scobee about a long-term contract.
Both sides want to compete a deal, according to the Florida Times Union, and Scobee is "absolutely one of the team's priorities." Scobee is reportedly also the only player to whom the Jaguars would consider applying the franchise tag.
