Powell was among the Texans' roster cuts Monday, the Houston Chronicle reports. Powell will try to catch on elsewhere as a depth back, but with the with the Texans he slotted behind Arian Foster, Alfred Blue and Ronnie Brown in the team's backfield mix.

Powell had six carries for 17 yards and caught one pass for four yards in Saturday night's preseason win over Atlanta. Powell was brought into camp after Houston's shake up of the running back corps earlier this week. He saw all of his action in the fourth quarter.
