Carter was tendered a one-year offer from the Broncos on Monday, the Denver Post reports.

Carter will now be subject of first-refusal from the Broncos, should another team try to sign him during free agency. At the moment, he's behind players like Chris Harris, Aqib Talib, and Bradley Roby on the Broncos' cornerback depth chart.

A special teamer and sub-package corner, Carter turns 28 in May. He made two starts in 2013, finishing the season with 12 tackles and six pass breakups. Carter will make $730,000 in 2014 and be a 2015 restricted free agent.

He escaped with a "pinched nerve" in his arm, and coach John Fox said Monday that Carter was "fine." Carter is a sub-package corner and special teamer.

Broncos re-signed exclusive rights free agents CB Tony Carter and DT Mitch Unrein.

Carter, the Broncos' No. 3 corner, was a nice surprise in 2012. He played in 15 games, recording 27 tackles, 12 pass deflections, and two interceptions. Carter, Champ Bailey, and Chris Harris form a nice trio on the outside. Unrein appeared in all 16 games and registered 20 tackles.

Carter was added to the practice squad two weeks ago when special teams standout Cassius Vaughn went down with a fractured fibula. Carter played ahead of second-round pick Alphonso Smith in nickel and dime packages back in 2009.
