Jennings is inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
Jennings wasn't listed on the Bucs' injury report this week, so it seems likely that coach Lovie Smith is simply dumping the veteran from his nickelback role. In five games this season, Jennings has collected 17 tackles and knocked down one pass, but hadn't provided the solid coverage on the outside that he displayed during back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons with the Bears. Mike Jenkins is in line to replace Jennings as the Bucs' third corner.

Jennings signed with the Buccaneers on Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After he was surprisingly released by the Bears earlier in the week, Jennings will reunite with his former head coach, Lovie Smith, in Tampa Bay. With Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks expected to start, Jennings will likely have to settle for competing for the No. 3 or 4 spot on the depth chart.

Jennings was released by the Bears on Sunday, NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Bears are reportedly going the youth route at cornerback, and Jennings certainly doesn't fit that bill. As a result, he will now hit the free agency market, and the veteran cornerback will likely have multiple suitors vying for his services.

Jennings may see more time working as a slot cornerback this season rather than his familiar role on the outside, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports. New defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has historically shown a preference for using taller, physical corners on the outside, qualities that the 5-foot-8, 185-pound Jennings doesn't possess. While those size deficiencies were masked in Lovie Smith's old Cover 2 scheme, Jennings lack of press-coverage skills would likely be exposed in Fangio's 3-4 setup. Instead, free-agent signing Alan Ball may be better poised to claim the outside spot opposite Kyle Fuller, though Fangio and coach John Fox should at least give Jennings a chance to hang on to his old starting gig in training camp. However, a move inside seems to be a more probable outcome for the two-time Pro Bowler, with a reduction in snaps likely coming with it.

Jennings was arrested in Gwinnett County, Ga. on Wednesday for a DUI charge, ESPN Chicago reports. He was also ticketed for speeding and reckless driving. The news comes only a couple weeks after Jennings turned in a disappointing campaign. After collecting 13 interceptions while earning back-to-back Pro Bowl nods the previous two seasons, Jennings failed to notch a single pick in 2014, while defensing only seven passes. Jennings will enter the upcoming season with three years remaining on his contract, but in light of his drop in production along with this off-field incident, he'll have a lot to prove to the new regime.

Jennings has failed to notch an interception through the Bears' first 13 games. After posting a total of 13 interceptions over the last two seasons, Jennings hasn't looked anywhere close to the player that entered the season coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl experiences. In addition to his lack of playmaking, he's on pace for his lowest tackle total since 2010 and has defensed only six passes on the season.

Jennings accumulated four tackles in Sunday's blowout loss to the Patriots. Jennings and the Bears' pass defense did little to slow quarterback Tom Brady, who completed 30 of 35 passes for 354 yards and five touchdowns Sunday. The former Pro Bowler has no interceptions through eight games, a disappointing development for a player who racked up 13 picks over the previous two seasons. He's not worthy of much fantasy interest at present.

Jennings collected a season-high five tackles and defensed one pass in Sunday's loss to the Packers. Although Jennings turned in his best fantasy performance to date, his efforts did little to slow the Packers' passing attack, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers turned in his most complete outing of the season. Jennings will likely be tasked with covering the opposition's top receiving threat the rest of the way with Charles Tillman (triceps) on injured reserve, which should result in passers throwing his way more frequently. Subsequently, Jennings should see his tackle totals rise accordingly, but probably not enough to make him a reliable week-to-week IDP option at defensive back.

Jennings supplied three tackles in Sunday's win over the 49ers. Jennings has been mostly anonymous through the first two weeks of the season, racking up seven tackles and failing to defense a pass. Following Charles Tillman's season-ending triceps injury Sunday, the pressure will likely be on Jennings to match up against the opponent's No. 1 receiver the rest of the way.

Jennings (quad) returned to practice earlier this week, ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright reports. Curiously, Jennings has been taking reps exclusively as the team's nickel back since rejoining practices, but the expectation is that he'll be one of the starters at corner back by the time Week 1 rolls around. Rookie Kyle Fuller has had a strong camp to this point, but he's probably not quite ready to displace either Jennings or Charles Tillman, both of whom have multiple Pro Bowl berths under their belts.
