ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi says impending free agent CB Sheldon Brown "won't be back" with the Browns. New defensive coordinator Ray Horton was recently noncommittal on if the team had plans of re-signing Brown. "We're still going through our evaluation process. I don't know what Sheldon Brown wants. It's one of those deals where a player's a free agent, you can't dictate what's going to happen in the market. I'd like to have everybody back," said Horton. Brown, 34 in March, performed well in 2012, but he'll likely have to settle for a one- or two-year deal this offseason.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown's (concussion) Week 17 status is "in jeopardy." Brown suffered the concussion midway through the Week 16 loss to the Broncos when WR Brandon Stokley leveled him on a pick play to free up Demaryius Thomas on a crossing pattern. Brown has played in 175 straight games. He'll hit the free agent market this offseason as a 34-year-old coming off a fine season. Cleveland ends the season in Pittsburgh this Sunday.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown was forced from Cleveland's Week 16 game against the Broncos with a head injury, and will not return. He's been replaced by Buster Skrine. Brown was likely concussed on a thundering mid-field collision with Broncos WR Brandon Stokley. It could be a season-ending injury, as the Browns will have little reason to rush Brown back for Week 17. Starting opposite Joe Haden, Brown has graded out as a top-15 cornerback in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown exited Sunday's game with a first-quarter head injury. His availability for the remainder of the game is unclear. Brown was taken into the locker room for testing, probably to see if he has a concussion. In the meantime, Buster Skrine is getting burned by Rueben Randle and Victor Cruz.

Sheldon Brown has lost his starting RCB job to Buster Skrine. Brown missed the Week 2 loss to the Bengals due to a shoulder/neck injury. He's back now, but will only play in the nickel package. The Browns want to see what they have in Skrine while Joe Haden serves his suspension. It's a favorable turn of events for opposing passing attacks, starting with the Bills this week.

Browns RCB Sheldon Brown (stinger) is expected to be available for Week 2 against the Bengals. Cleveland's pass defense got smoked by Jeremy Maclin after Brown left the opener, as the Eagles picked on Buster Skrine. Brown is 33 years old and gradually fading, but he's still Cleveland's second best cover man behind Joe Haden.

Browns GM Tom Heckert says CB Sheldon Brown will not be moving to safety. "Sheldon Brown is never going to play safety unless some disaster happens," Heckert said. "You can put that to bed." We've been hearing rumblings about a possible positional change for Brown since 2010, but it's not going to happen. Now 33, Brown will be pushed for the No. 2 corner job by Dimitri Patterson and Buster Skrine. Usama Young and T.J. Ward are penciled in as the starting safeties.

The Browns are expected to once again consider moving RCB Sheldon Brown to free safety this offseason. Talk of Brown changing positions began in 2010 and carried over to last offseason as well, though it's never come to fruition. Now 33, Brown's effectiveness in man coverage is waning. He began to lose snaps to Dimitri Patterson and Buster Skrine late last season.

Browns CB Sheldon Brown said he's willing to move to safety for the Browns next season. Brown's effectiveness is declining sharply at age 32. He's losing snaps to Dimitri Patterson and Buster Skrine, a sign that Cleveland may not want to pay his $3.7 million base salary next year. Brown has never played safety in his career.
