McClain is suspended indefinitely for violating the league's substance abuse policy, NFL.com reports.
McClain satisfied his previous 10-game suspension at the conclusion of Week 11, but is now facing further discipline due to a missed drug test. The Cowboys reportedly don't expect McClain to play another snap in the NFL.

McClain, currently finishing out a 10-game suspension, will be suspended for a further year after failing another drug test, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones had already said McClain would not be re-joining the team when his current suspension ends Monday, but this may have been the reason why. The linebacker would now not be eligible for re-instatement until next November, and it's entirely possible his NFL career is over.

McClain (suspended) will be placed on the Cowboys' reserve/did not report list, ESPN.com reports.
McClain has already been suspended for the first 10 games of the upcoming season, but was still expected to report for training camp Wednesday. Since McClain, who skipped most of Dallas' offseason program, remains away from the team, his status with the Cowboys going forward appears increasingly shaky. By placing McClain on the reserve/did not report list, the Cowboys have opened a roster spot, potentially for another linebacker, which, along with the recent signing of veteran Justin Durant, could make McClain more expendable.

The Cowboys have yet to decide on whether or not to release McClain (suspension), reports.
There are some minor financial implications from cutting McClain, namely that the team wouldn't be able to recoup his signing bonus, but the bigger issue seems to be that Dallas isn't comfortable with any of their options to replace him at middle linebacker. If they sign a reliable free agent (a reunion with Justin Durant has been rumored) or one of their younger LBs, such as Anthony Hitchens or Mark Nzeocha, takes a big leap forward in their development though, McClain could wash out of the NFL for good.

McClain was suspended for the first 10 games of 2016 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.
McClain was suspended to start the 2015 for violating the substance abuse policy, and the repeat offense is the reason for the 10-game suspension. The middle linebacker was a lock to be a starter for the Dallas defense, but it now looks like Sean Lee or Anthony Hitchens will take his place.

As expected, McClain is in attendance for this week's mandatory minicamp, Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPN Dallas reports.
After skipping voluntary OTAs, McClain took part in some individual drills Tuesday. He's still expected to begin the season as the Cowboys' starting middle linebacker, a role that should give him solid IDP value -- at least on a per-game basis.

McClain re-signed with Dallas on a one-year, $5 million contract Wednesday, Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com reports.
He played just 11 games last year due to suspension and a concussion, but still recorded 80 tackles, two sacks and an INT return for a touchdown. McClain has yet to play a full 16-game schedule in his career, but the Cowboys will still pencil him in as their starting middle linebacker in 2016.

McClain (concussion) is active Sunday against the Bills.
McClain had collected double-digit tackle totals in three straight games prior to missing Week 15's contest due to a concussion. He was a full participant in practice all week, however, so look for the veteran to resume a regular role Sunday, with plenty of opportunities to rack up tackles.

McClain (concussion) has been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Jets, Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports.
McClain did not participate in practice all week so the decision to hold him out on Sunday shouldn't come as a huge surprise. He will leave a sizable hole in the Dallas defense as he has had double-digit tackle performances each of the past three weeks. Look for Anthony Hitchens and Andrew Gachkar to see an increased role with McClain on the sidelines.

McClain (concussion) was a non-participant in Thursday's practice, the Cowboys' official site reports.
McClain has been a tackling machine the last three games, notching double-digits on each occasion en route to 33 tackles (17 solo) during that stretch. In the last outing Sunday at Green Bay, he was accidentally kicked in the helmet, forcing his placement in the concussion protocol. It's evident that he remains there with back-to-back no-shows at practice, though he could stem the tide with a showing in some fashion Friday.
