Matthews turned a game-high eight targets into just three catches for 32 yards Sunday against the Raiders.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews has been targeted 18 times in three weeks, but has just 98 yards to show for all that volume. Second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota still hasn't shown the ability to elevate his wide receivers' production, though Matthews could see a short-term uptick in value if tight end Delanie Walker (hamstring) continues to miss time.

Matthews hauled in four of his six targets for 40 yards Sunday in Detroit.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews led Titans wide receivers in yardage, but it was veteran Andre Johnson who caught the game-winning touchdown with 1:13 to play. With tight end Delanie Walker still serving as quarterback Marcus Mariota's top target and rookie Tajae Sharpe receiving significant attention across from Matthews, expectations for the offseason free agent acquisition should be tempered despite his starting role in Tennessee.

Matthews was targeted just four times Sunday against the Vikings, managing three catches for 26 yards.

EDGE Analysis

The former Dolphins wide receiver seemed in line for a prominent role with his new team, but he was overshadowed by both newcomer Andre Johnson and rookie Tajae Sharpe. Matthews' inability to deliver in a game in which the Titans threw it 41 times doesn't bode well for his chances in future contests for what should normally be a run-first offense.

Matthews and Tajae Sharpe are expected to start Week 1 against the Vikings, Titans Online reports.

EDGE Analysis

Not exactly breaking news, as any thoughts of competition essentially ended when the Titans traded Dorial Green-Beckham to the Eagles. With Kendall Wright (hamstring) uncertain for Week 1 and presumably just the No. 3 receiver when healthy, Matthews and Tajae Sharpe both figure to play the vast majority of offensive snaps. Sharpe, a fifth-round rookie, has been the better of the two this preseason, but Matthews still has a chance to emerge as Marcus Mariota's favorite outside target. The Titans suddenly have a lot of mouths to feed, with Matthews, Sharpe and (possibly) Wright joined by TE Delanie Walker and RBs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry.

Matthews turned two targets into one catch for 19 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Raiders.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews has been outplayed by rookie Tajae Sharpe all preseason, but the former Dolphins receiver is still in line to start thanks to a lack of production elsewhere in the passing game. The opportunity is there, but expectations should be tempered until Matthews demonstrates more chemistry with quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Matthews hauled in his lone target for six yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews worked with the starters, but quarterback Marcus Mariota greatly preferred to look rookie Tajae Sharpe's (six catches for 68 yards) way. While the former Dolphins wide receiver is on track for a starting outside role with his new team, he'll have to earn more attention from Mariota if he wants to contribute in a meaningful way once the games start counting.

Matthews caught both of his targets for 32 yards in Saturday's preseason opener against the Chargers.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews has been working with the first-team offense in camp, but he got action with both starting quarterback Marcus Mariota and backup Matt Cassel in this one, catching one pass from each. He has emerged as a fairly clear-cut starter at wide receiver for a Titans team with many question marks at the position.

Matthews has agreed to a three-year contract with the Titans, Rand Getlin of NFL Network reports.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews caught 43 passes for 662 yards and four touchdowns in 2016 with Miami. That would have led the Titans in receiving last season, as Dorial Green-Beckham led Tennessee's wide receiving corps in yards with 549 (tight end Delanie Walker caught 94 passes for 1,088 yards as the top overall target). Look for him to take a major role in Tennessee's passing offense.

The Dolphins are interested in bringing back Matthews if the price is right, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews had a breakout campaign in 2015 with 43 receptions for 662 yards and four scores but only played 11 games before suffering a rib injury that prematurely ended his season. The problem for Miami is that with Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker already locked in as starters Matthews may be able to get a bigger payday and more targets from another team.

Matthews (ribs) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

Matthews' season ends with 43 catches for 662 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games, making it a clear breakout year for the 26-year-old wideout despite the disappointing ending. It also might go down as something close to a career year, on the other hand. Matthews is a free agent and even if he stays in Miami, Jarvis Landry and Devante Parker figure to be the team's target leaders for the foreseeable future.
