Brockel (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Brockel suffered a right ankle injury in Week 4 that will ultimately end his 2014 campaign. His absence leaves Ed Dickson and Brandon Williams as the Panthers' options at tight end behind clear-cut starter Greg Olsen.

An undrafted free agent, Brockel appeared in 11 games last season, catching three passes for 13 yards and a touchdown. He played primarily fullback. A two-year veteran, Stanford made 13 tackles in 12 games in 2011.
