Gordon continues to battle for a 53-man roster spot, but the ankle injury heading into cuts Saturday doesn't bode well. He was already likely on the outside looking in, and the ankle injury could further diminish his chances.

Gordon was signed by the Chiefs on Friday. Gordon will likely slot in as the Chiefs' third tight end behind Travis Kelce and Demetrius Harris. He didn't record a catch last season, so it's safe to say his biggest contribution will likely be with the Chiefs' special teams unit.

Gordon was released by the Chiefs on Sunday, the Kansas City Star reports. Gordon was kept on as the fourth tight end, but was in a vulnerable position because of it. His spot was taken by Damion Square, who the Chiefs claimed off waivers.
