Vernon notched 1.5 sacks along with four tackles Sunday against the Browns.

EDGE Analysis

Vernon has recorded at least one sack in each of his last four games, and his seven-week slump to start the season is now a distant memory. With Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul working together to disrupt opposing offenses, he could easily stay hot for the remainder of the season.

Vernon recorded a sack and three tackles Sunday against the Bears.

EDGE Analysis

Vernon has now had a sack in each of his last three games, giving him four on the season. After a painfully slow start to his first campaign as a Giant, he's re-emerged as an excellent IDP option with his recent hot streak.

Vernon collected a sack and 11 tackles Monday against the Bengals.

EDGE Analysis

After an incredibly slow start to the season, Vernon has now recorded sacks in back-to-back contests to give him three on the season. He's a player who should be added to IDP rosters, as he's averaged 8.5 sacks in each of the last three seasons, so he has a real chance to end the season on a strong note, especially as a part of an emerging Giants' pass rush.

Vernon had five tackles, including one for a loss, and pressured Ryan Fitzpatrick into bad throws several times Saturday against the Jets.

EDGE Analysis

Vernon's been a disruptive force this preseason, looking very much like the player who dominated in the second half last year and for whom the Giants paid $85 million this offseason.

The Giants have signed Vernon, NJ.com reports. Per NFL Network, his deal is a five-year, $85 million contract.

EDGE Analysis

After applying their transition tag to Vernon, the Dolphins changed course Wednesday, allowing Vernon -- who is is coming off a 2015 season in which he recorded 61 tackles and 7.5 sacks -- to hit free agency. The Giants then moved in quickly, securing the services of the 25-year-old defensive end, who will provide a huge boost to the team's pass rush.

The Dolphins have removed the transition tag they placed on Vernon last week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Dolphins added Mario Williams on Tuesday and already have Cameron Wake in tow, so they decided to let Vernon explore his options a bit more, and will no longer be able to automatically match any offer he receives. Vernon tallied 7.5 sacks last season and 25.5 sacks over the last three seasons, so interest in him will be high.

The Dolphins have applied the transition tag to Vernon, the Sun Sentinel reports.

EDGE Analysis

The designation assures Vernon at least $12.73 million for the coming season, though other teams can still negotiate with the talented 25-year-old pass-rusher once free agency opens. In the event that Vernon inks a long-term deal with another team, the Dolphins would have the right to match the offer. The defensive end is coming off a 2015 season in which he recorded 61 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

The Dolphins are still discussing whether or not to put the franchise or transition tag on Vernon, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

EDGE Analysis

Vernon has become a valuable pass rusher and the Dolphins don't want to risk losing him. If the team puts the franchise tag on him that would guarantee Vernon $15.7 million next season whereas the transition tag would cost $12.7 million. The Dolphins could also choose to let him test his value on the open market before making a contract offer but that would be dangerous as Vernon may be able to get a bigger deal than the Dolphins want to pay.

Vernon had a solid season in 2015 with 61 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

EDGE Analysis

Vernon once again played all 16 games (has never missed a game in his career) and although the sacks weren't a career high (11.5 in 2013),the tackles were. The Dolphins leaned on Vernon more than usual to pressure the quarterback when Cameron Wake (Achilles) was lost for the season. With Ndamukong Suh, Wake, and Vernon defensive line should not be a high priority for an upgrade this off-season.
