The Rams will exercise the fifth-year option on Brockers' contract, the Post-Dispatch reports.

With the move, the 2012 first-rounder will be slated to earn $6.15 million in the 2016 season. The 24-year-old Brockers started all 16 games for the Rams last season, tallying 32 tackles and two sacks, while making more of a mark as a run-stuffer than as a pass-rusher for the team.

Brocks (ankle) is not on the Week 1 injury report.

Brockers will likely start at tackle for St. Louis, even with the addition of first-round pick Aaron Donald. With Brockers, Donald and Kendall Langford at tackle, the Rams might boast the best one-two-three punch at the position in the whole league.

Brockers' ankle injury isn't serious and he has a shot at playing in Thursday's preseason finale, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Good news for the Rams, as they don't need another long-term injury to deal with. Brockers helped the St. Louis front seven turn into a force last season and should continue to aid the squad.

Brockers left Saturday's preseason tilt with Cleveland after re-aggravating the ankle injury that's been bothering him all preseason.

The injury comes at a particularly bad time for Brockers, as Aaron Donald has emerged as a force as his backup. If Brockers can't get back on the field soon or struggles out of the gate, he may find his starting job in jeopardy.

Brockers (ankle) participated in Tuesday's practice, taking part in both individual and team drills, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The injury forced Brockers out of last Saturday's preseason tilt with the Packers, but his return to practice suggests he could be available for the Rams' remaining two exhibitions. Brockers can be penciled in for a starting role at tackle on the team's deep defensive line.

Brockers (ankle) did some running in Wednesday's practice and appears to be getting healthy again, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Brockers is a key component of the defensive line, so the Rams are taking it slow with him. He may not play in Saturday's preseason game, but should play in game three or four.

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner considers DT Michael Brockers a potential breakout candidate.

Brockers is coming off a solid season after dealing with injuries as a rookie, starting all 16 games and recording 5.5 sacks. He finished as the No. 45 overall defensive tackle by Pro Football Focus, but graded out positively against the run. With the addition of first-round DT Aaron Donald on the inside, Brockers should see less double-teams and more sack opportunities in 2014.

Rams DT Michael Brockers underwent cleanup surgery in February to remove bone chips from his left ankle, but is 100 percent for camp.

It's not the same ankle that Brockers hurt last preseason, costing him the first three games of his NFL career. Coach Jeff Fisher has been impressed with Brockers' camp. "He's worked very hard," Fisher said. "He's changed his body, and we think he can be a dominating player inside." We agree with Fisher's assessment.

The Rams are expecting "big things" from 2012 first-round pick Michael Brockers in his second year.

Slowed by a high ankle sprain early in his rookie season, Brockers came on very strong down the stretch and ranked 21st in Pro Football Focus' 4-3 defensive tackle run-stopping ratings. Brockers chipped in four sacks and a forced fumble in 12 starts. Brockers won't turn 23 years old until just before Christmas.

Brockers has no sacks and two tackles in his three games, but he's contributing up the gut. The first-round rookie is part of an impressively physical Rams defense currently ranked seventh in the league.
