Foster recorded five tackles Sunday against the Giants.

EDGE Analysis

This was the first time that Foster failed to record double-digit tackles in a game, and he now has 29 of them on the season. The six-year veteran has never posted more than 105 tackles in a season, but he's clearly off to a great start, and he could be a sneaky add in IDP leagues.

Foster recorded a team-high 14 tackles in Monday's Week 1 loss to the Steelers.

EDGE Analysis

Foster won the starting inside linebacker job during the preseason and proved why he deserved the honor on Monday night. The 27-year-old only registered 37 tackles total last season, but looks to be crucial cog in Washington's defense this year as he plays alongside Will Compton, who was the leading linebacker in tackles last season.

Foster is listed as the official starting inside linebacker in Washington's depth chart release on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Foster recorded 37 tackles and a forced fumble last season, and started the final six games, including the Wild Card loss to the Packers. He is now listed as the starting inside linebacker, with Perry Riley Jr. listed as the backup. The two linebackers have been splitting first-team reps during practice, so the decision to list Foster as the starter is anything but concrete with a month left before the season begins.

Foster will likely compete with Will Compton for a starting job at inside linebacker alongside Perry Riley, CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

EDGE Analysis

Foster re-signed with Washington in March, after starting the final six games (including playoffs) of the 2015 season in place of an injured Perry Riley. Although Riley is expected to step back in to his three-down role, Foster could beat out Will Compton for the other starting job. Riley remains the best target in IDP leagues.

Foster re-signed with the Redskins on Wednesday, Anthony Gulizia of The Washington Times reports.

EDGE Analysis

Though the details of Foster's deal have yet to be disclosed, Foster will be returning to the Redskins in 2016 after latching on with the club in late September and making an impact down the stretch. He started the final five games of the season in place of the injured Perry Riley, racking up 24 solo tackles in that span. As Brian McNally of CBS Sports reports, Foster's new contract with the Redskins could spell trouble for Riley, who is set to make over $5 million in 2016.

Foster agreed to a contract with the Redskins on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Foster will head to Washington after being released by the Bears earlier in September. He will provide some depth at inside linebacker for the Redskins.

Foster had his contract terminated by the Bears over the weekend, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

EDGE Analysis

Foster opened camp as a contender to challenge for a starting role on the inside, but after Christian Jones and Shea McClellin quickly emerged as the frontrunners for those two spots, Foster's roster spot was on thin ice. His lack of impact on special teams likely influenced the Bears' decision to cut him in favor of rookie John Timu.

Foster signed a one-year deal with the Bears on Tuesday, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Foster spent his first four seasons with the Buccaneers, where he accumulated a total of 343 combined tackles and 6.0 sacks. He was limited to just 10 games in 2014 due to an Achilles injury, which is primarily responsible for his career-low tackles totals. Foster, now presumably healthy, should make an immediate bid to earn a starting linebacker gig in Chicago.

Foster finished the 2014 season with 62 tackles (40 solo) and three passes defensed in 10 games.

Foster, who can become an unrestricted free agent, enters this offseason as a bit of a question mark for the Buccaneers moving forward. His play was solid, if unspectacular, when he was on the field, but Danny Lansanah also a free agent provided similar production when he was off it. Foster's continual inability to stay healthy will likely inhibit his ability to drive up his asking price. Lansanah, however, could prove a more affordable commodity, and Tampa, which has holes to fill almost everywhere, could elect make him the starter and allow Foster to walk.

Foster (Achilles) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Saints.

Foster had been tagged with a doubtful status in advance of the Week 17 contest, so it's no surprise to see him sit this one out. Look for Danny Lansanah to once again draw the start at middle linebacker for Tampa Bay, with Orie Lemon occupying Lansanah's regular outside linebacker spot.
