Foster re-signed with the Redskins on Wednesday, Anthony Gulizia of The Washington Times reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Though the details of Foster's deal have yet to be disclosed, Foster will be returning to the Redskins in 2016 after latching on with the club in late September and making an impact down the stretch. He started the final five games of the season in place of the injured Perry Riley, racking up 24 solo tackles in that span. As Brian McNally of CBS Sports reports, Foster's new contract with the Redskins could spell trouble for Riley, who is set to make over $5 million in 2016.

Foster agreed to a contract with the Redskins on Wednesday.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Foster will head to Washington after being released by the Bears earlier in September. He will provide some depth at inside linebacker for the Redskins.

Foster had his contract terminated by the Bears over the weekend, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Foster opened camp as a contender to challenge for a starting role on the inside, but after Christian Jones and Shea McClellin quickly emerged as the frontrunners for those two spots, Foster's roster spot was on thin ice. His lack of impact on special teams likely influenced the Bears' decision to cut him in favor of rookie John Timu.

Foster signed a one-year deal with the Bears on Tuesday, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Foster spent his first four seasons with the Buccaneers, where he accumulated a total of 343 combined tackles and 6.0 sacks. He was limited to just 10 games in 2014 due to an Achilles injury, which is primarily responsible for his career-low tackles totals. Foster, now presumably healthy, should make an immediate bid to earn a starting linebacker gig in Chicago.

Foster finished the 2014 season with 62 tackles (40 solo) and three passes defensed in 10 games.

Foster, who can become an unrestricted free agent, enters this offseason as a bit of a question mark for the Buccaneers moving forward. His play was solid, if unspectacular, when he was on the field, but Danny Lansanah also a free agent provided similar production when he was off it. Foster's continual inability to stay healthy will likely inhibit his ability to drive up his asking price. Lansanah, however, could prove a more affordable commodity, and Tampa, which has holes to fill almost everywhere, could elect make him the starter and allow Foster to walk.

Foster (Achilles) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Saints.

Foster had been tagged with a doubtful status in advance of the Week 17 contest, so it's no surprise to see him sit this one out. Look for Danny Lansanah to once again draw the start at middle linebacker for Tampa Bay, with Orie Lemon occupying Lansanah's regular outside linebacker spot.

Foster (Achilles) is doubtful for Sunday's game against New Orleans.

With Foster likely out, Danny Lansanah and Dane Fletcher figure to see replacement snaps.

Foster (Achilles) didn't take part in practice Thursday.

Foster missed the Buccaneers' first two games on December due to an Achilles injury, and upon his return in Week 16, he promptly aggravated the concern. As a result, don't be shocked if he resides on the sideline yet again Sunday against the Saints, while Danny Lansanah mans middle linebacker in Foster's place.

Foster is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against the Packers due to an Achilles injury.

Foster made his return to the lineup after missing back-to-back games, but that return may prove to be short-lived, as he exited before the end of the first quarter. Danny Lansanah will move over to inside linebacker in the base defense until further notice.

Foster (Achilles) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Packers.

Foster will return to the Tampa Bay interior defense for the first time since Week 13, with his eyes set on containing Eddie Lacy and the Green Bay rushing attack. He'll be on the field alongside Lavonte David for the first time since Week 11, representing a formidable addition in the Buccaneers' defensive unit.
