Jennings was waived by the Bears on Saturday, ESPN.com's Michael C. Wright reports. The Bears waived Jennings on an injury settlement, though it's not apparent what ailment the safety was dealing with. After opening in a starting role with the Packers last season, Jennings' stock has tumbled considerably since then. He could have more difficulty than anticipated landing a roster spot with another squad.

Bears agreed to terms with S M.D. Jennings, formerly of the Packers, on a one-year contract. Jennings was a 16-game starter for the Pack last season, but not an effective one, struggling mightily in coverage. The Bears have one of the league's weakest collection of safeties, however, so Jennings will definitely be in the mix to start. The Bears shouldn't be done adding bodies to the back line of their defense.

The Packers failed to tender restricted free agent S M.D. Jennings, making him an unrestricted free agent. This was expected despite Jennings' 16 starts last season. He was stretched mightily with Green Bay's first-team defense, and GM Ted Thompson will likely turn to the draft to replace him. Jennings could be back at closer to the minimum salary, but wouldn't be projected as anything more than a special teamer.

The Packers list M.D. Jennings as their starting free safety. Jennings and Jerron McMillian were competing for the job all summer and preseason long. Jennings started three of the four preseason games, while McMillian started once. Jennings was always considered the slight favorite after starting ten games last season. He's replacing Charles Woodson.

Packers safeties coach Darren Perry hints M.D. Jennings and Jerron McMillian's competition at free safety will last the majority of camp. "I don't think either one of those guys separated themselves in terms of being 'that guy' at the end of the last season," Perry said during OTAs. "They both made strides. ... But in terms of who distinguishes themselves as 'the guy,' we're just going to have to wait and see and enjoy the competition." Both players played roughly 600 snaps last season, and graded out nearly equal in Pro Football Focus' ratings. We'd consider Jennings the slight favorite.

Packers S M.D. Jennings has added five pounds of muscle and is up to 200 pounds. Jennings walked on campus at Arkansas State at a skinny 160 pounds, and he entered the NFL at 187. He "redshirted" as a rookie in 2011 before starting ten games in 2012, racking up 52 tackles. Jennings is bulking up in an effort to win the starting job next to Morgan Burnett.

The Packers "seem perfectly content" with M.D. Jennings and Jerron McMillian competing for the starting free safety spot. Green Bay released Charles Woodson early in the offseason, and have since added nobody to the group. The Packers passed on Matt Elam and Johnathan Cyprien to take DE Datone Jones at No. 26 in the draft. Jennings started ten games last season, recording 52 tackles and an interception. He looks like the favorite.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Packers are "very high" on safeties M.D. Jennings, Sean Richardson, and Jerron McMillian. One of the three will likely be the starter next to Morgan Burnett in 2013. After Charles Woodson was injured last season, Jennings stepped into the lineup and started ten games, racking up 52 tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception. Richardson spent much of the year on injured reserve with a neck injury, and McMillian was the No. 3 safety for most of the season.

Packers S M.D. Jennings was sent to the locker room for X-rays on his shoulder during the second quarter of Sunday's Week 4 game versus the Saints. Jennings was picking up extra playing time versus the Saints' three-wide sets. He's questionable to return, pending the X-ray results.

M.D. Jennings has worked as the Packers' starting strong safety throughout OTAs. With Charlie Peprah recovering from offseason knee surgery, Jennings has put himself in contention for the starting job opposite Morgan Burnett. ''I've picked up a lot of the defense,'' Jennings said. ''All the formation adjustments and things like that. I just have to go out there, keep fighting, and put good things on film.'' Peprah remains the favorite to start, but will be pushed by Jennings and rookie Jerron McMillian in training camp.
