Alexander was running with the first team during Monday's practice, BuffaloBills.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Alexander was fourth or fifth on the OLB depth chart when the summer began, but if Manny Lawson (pectoral) is unable to get back in time for Week 1, he might end up being the team's starter following injuries to Shaq Lawson and IK Enemkpali.

Coach Rex Ryan says that if neither Shaq Lawson nor Manny Lawson is available for Week 1, he'd tab Alexander as his starter, BuffaloBills.com reports. "Sometimes we put Striker in there. Sometimes we put IK out there. He's been primarily the starter, but if we were going to start a game today, I'd start 57. I'd start Zo at that spot. I can't tell you the last mistake he's made. I think he's made one or two the entire camp. Veteran player, but it wasn't the role that I wanted for him, and I'm not going to put him there. I want some of these young guys to see if they can't step up and do it."

EDGE Analysis

Manny Lawson is expected back by the regular season, and while the words about Alexander are encouraging from his coach, it also sounds like he'd prefer to use his versatility as a backup/rotational player. However, it does sound like Alexander is looking more likely to land a spot on the team.

Alexander signed with the Raiders on Wednesday, the team's official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Alexander played specials teams almost exclusively the last two seasons with the Cardinals, racking up 17 tackles (15 solo) and one sack in 19 games. While he was penciled in as the starting weak-side linebacker at the outset of training camp, he lost the spot over time to free-agent addition LaMarr Woodley and was jettisoned at the first cut-down date. With the Raiders, expect Alexander to be a mainstay on special teams, while acting as LB depth.

Alexander has lined up with the first-team defense at outside linebacker during OTAs, the Cardinals' official site reports. Noting his versatility, coach Bruce Arians stated, "He can play outside because he's got a good motor for a pass rusher and he's a heavy-handed blitzer up the middle."

After inking a three-year deal with the Cardinals during the 2013 offseason, Alexander sustained a lis Franc foot injury in Week 3, missing the remainder of his first campaign in the Arizona desert. He proceeded to appear in every game last season but relayed that he was working at 70 percent capacity, which contained him primarily to special-teams duty. Now that he's running on all cylinders, his ability to work at all four LB spots should afford Alexander more of a presence on the defensive side of the equation in 2015.

The Cardinals are moving OLB Lorenzo Alexander to inside linebacker.

It never made sense to have Alexander on the outside in Arizona's 3-4 defense in the first place. He doesn't bring anything to the table as a pass rusher. At inside 'backer, Alexander will compete for playing time behind Daryl Washington and Kevin Minter. Alexander is an ace on special teams.

Cardinals OLB Lorenzo Alexander (Lisfranc) said he plans to participate in OTAs and minicamp.

Alexander tore his right Lisfranc tendon on Sept. 22, 2013. He'll likely be a limited participant in the offseason program and then ramp up his activity at training camp. If healthy, Alexander is an elite special teamer and quality depth at the outside 'backer spot.

Coach Bruce Arians suggested OLB Lorenzo Alexander's rehab from a right Lisfranc injury is not going smoothly.

Alexander, an elite special teamer and rotational linebacker, went down in September and still isn't right. "I'm a little concerned with Lorenzo's foot right now," Arians said at the Combine. "Hopefully it will show improvement." Alexander signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed a year ago.

Cardinals placed WLB Lorenzo Alexander (Lisfranc) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Cardinals are really missing the suspended Daryl Washington now. Alexander, an elite special teamer during his time in Washington, was playing a rotational role on the weak-side. He signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed back in March. Washington is due back Week 5.

Cardinals WLB Lorenzo Alexander (biceps) is questionable for Week 2 against the Lions.

Alexander practiced on a limited basis Friday and will likely come down to a game-time decision. If Alexander is held out, John Abraham will start and get the majority of playing time at weak-side linebacker.

In an interview with Arizona Sports 620, Cardinals ILB Lorenzo Alexander is ready to play an every-down this season.

The former Redskins 'backer has the ability to play both inside and outside, but will likely be thrust into a three-down role with Cardinals all-world LB Daryl Washington suspended for the first four games of the season.
