Davis has signed a one-year deal with the Jets, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.

Davis did not catch any passes during the 2014 season.

Davis, who was active for six games with the Lions, only drew three targets all season, after being released by the Giants at the end of August. He's never been much of a receiving threat, and the Lions have solid depth at tight end. Davis will likely look for a new home in the offseason, but he'll have to compete for a roster spot, regardless of where he lands.

Davis was released by the Lions on Tuesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Davis was targeted just three times over three games in Detroit, and was deemed expendable in order to add offensive line depth. He'll look to find work elsewhere (if he clears waivers) in his age-28 season.

Davis will start at tight end for the Lions on Sunday against the Falcons, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Jordan Thompson is also in the mix, but with fellow TE's Brandon Pettigrew, Eric Ebron and Joseph Fauria all out this week, Davis could see his share of snaps in his debut with the Lions on Sunday.

The Lions have signed Davis, the Detroit News reports.

Davis has been released by the Giants, NJ.com reports.

Davis was competing for playing time at tight end, and his release means the Giants will presumably go with Larry Donnell, Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson. Donnell saw the most work with the first-team offense during the preseason, while Robinson is the best athlete of the bunch.

Davis started Thursday's preseason finale against the Patriots, Ebenezer Samuel of the NY Daily News reports.

Starting for a second straight week, Davis caught his only target for no gain, while Larry Donnell hauled in four passes for 60 yards. Donnell's Thursday production probably won't be a huge part of the playing-time decision, as neither tight end offers much upside as a receiver. The Giants will likely divide the snaps between at least two players, with Daniel Fells possibly also in the mix.

Davis started Friday's preseason game against the Jets, NJ.com reports.

Davis stepped in for Larry Donnell, who started the first two preseason games. Neither player was targeted in Friday's contest, as it still looks like the Giants' tight end position will be a barren wasteland for both fantasy owners and the team. The 6-7 Davis at least has a solid reputation as a run blocker.

Giants signed TE Kellen Davis, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year contract.

Davis, 28, played 172 offensive snaps for Seattle last season and caught all three of his targets for 32 yards and one touchdown. After the Bears tried and failed miserably by attempting to make Davis a pass-catching tight end, he found a role as a blocker with the Seahawks. He'll do the same with the Giants.
