Rivers signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Wednesday, the National Football Post reports. The Bengals selected Rivers with the ninth pick of the 2008 NFL Draft, and he responded with 70-tackle campaigns in his second and third season. However, prior to the fourth, he underwent wrist surgery and missed all of 2011. He was subsequently traded to the Giants prior to the 2012 campaign and signed with the Bills last offseason. After tallying 16 tackles in 12 games last year, he'll merely provide linebacker depth for the Cowboys.

Rivers was released by the Bills on Tuesday, WGR 550 reports.Rivers didn't get much playing time in 2014, and with 2013 rookie standout Kiko Alonso (knee) expected to return from a torn ACL, things likely wouldn't have changed next season. With Alonso, Nigel Bradham, Preston Brown and Brandon Spikes all under contract for 2015, the Bills have to be feeling pretty good about their linebacking corps. Rivers, meanwhile, will likely draw some interest as a free agent, despite never living up to his billing as a top-10 draft pick.

Rivers did not record a tackle or any other noteworthy stat in Sunday's win against the Vikings and only saw the field for seven defensive snaps. It looks like rookie Preston Brown has overtaken Rivers for a starting outside linebacker job now that everyone is healthy. With just 16 tackles and no sacks on the season, Rivers is not worth owning in IDP formats.

Rivers (groin) is not included on the Bills' inactive list in advance of Sunday's game versus the Texans. Rivers was limited during practice this week, but nonetheless, the veteran will be able to suit up Sunday to make his first appearance since Week 1. However, with rookie Preston Brown impressing lately, Rivers may be afforded some rest opportunities throughout Sunday's game in Houston.

Rivers (groin) participated on a limited basis Friday but is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Houston, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports. With Preston Brown playing so well, Rivers may not be in for a full workload even if he's close to 100 percent and the Bills gave him the start, neither of which is set in stone yet. We'd avoid him for this one if you're looking for IDP help.

Rivers (groin) was limited at practice Wednesday, wgr550.com reports. That said, the reports suggests that Rivers seems likely to be available Sunday against Houston, barring any setbacks as the week continues.

Rivers practiced on a limited basis for the third straight day Friday but is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chargers. It sounds like rookie Preston Brown, who subbed in for an injured Rivers last week and performed quite capable, will continue to start while Rivers heals up.

Rivers (groin), who missed Sunday's win over Miami, returned to practice Wednesday but on a limited basis. With rookie Preston Brown playing so well the Bills don't need to rush Rivers back into action, though his return gives the team more depth no matter whom they decide to roll as starters, though we've heard no word of Rivers losing his starting spot once he's healthy. Rivers had four tackles in the season-opening win.

Rivers (groin) is expected to miss at least two games, according to ESPN.com. The report suggests that Rivers, who did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, likely fits into the week-to-week category, which sets the stage for the Bills to go with a linebacking unit of Nigel Bradham, Brandon Spikes and rookie Preston Brown while Rivers is hurting.
