Bushrod signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins on Thursday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Bushrod was a coveted free agent at the end of his tenure with the Saints, landing a lucrative deal with the Bears in the spring of 2013. However, injuries and inconsistent play led to his release from the organization this offseason. According to Salguero, Bushrod's days as a tackle may be over as the Dolphins will likely try to plug him in at guard once camp opens.

Bushrod (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Kansas City, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Bushrod (concussion) is out for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Competitive Edge Analysis

Already facing the possibility of playing without QB Jay Cutler and WR Alshon Jeffery -- both questionable with hamstring injuries -- for a second straight week, the Bears will now be missing their starting left tackle. That's never a good thing, but it's especially worrisome when Khalil Mack is on the other team. Mack normally moves all over the place, but Oakland may have him spend more time on the offense's left side to test out replacement LT Charles Leno.

Bushrod was removed from Sunday's game against the Seahawks with a concussion, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Competitive Edge Analysis

The Bears were already operating ineffectively in the game without key members in Jay Cutler (hamstring) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring), so losing a starting offensive tackle could bring the offense to new lows. The team will wait and see how Bushrod progresses from the concussion this week before making a pronouncement on his status for next Sunday's matchup with the Raiders, but if he's not cleared to play, Charles Leno would likely step into a starting role.

With Bushrod out, the Bears will start Michael Ola at left tackle. It's a slight concern for Jay Cutler.

Bushrod (knee) was unable to practice Thursday, ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright reports.

After being limited in practice a day earlier, Bushrod had an unexpected downgrade in status Thursday, putting his availability for Sunday's game against the Panthers in jeopardy. Last summer's signing of Bushrod has given some peace of mind with the big left tackle protecting his blind side, and his potential absence could throw the effectiveness of the Bears' offense out of whack. If Bushrod is unable to go Sunday, the Bears would likely be down three starters on the offensive line as center Roberto Garza and left guard Matt Slauson also appear unlikely to play due to injury.

Bears agreed to terms on a five-year contract with LT Jermon Bushrod, formerly of the Saints.

The Bears were on a mission to upgrade Jay Cutler's protection, and they've done so slightly. Although Bushrod is regarded as a top-tier left tackle because he's kept Drew Brees upright, he actually graded out similarly to J'Marcus Webb last season. Cutler doesn't get the ball out nearly as quickly as Brees. Still, the Bears certainly know what they're getting as offensive line coach Aaron Kromer worked with Bushrod in New Orleans. At the very least, they've added depth to a thin unit.

The Bears are reportedly "in talks" with free agent LT Jermon Bushrod.

The offensive-line needy Bears already missed out on Phil Loadholt, Andy Levitre and Louis Vasquez. Bushrod is far from elite, but he'd certainly be an upgrade on J'Marcus Webb. Drew Brees took just 26 sacks last season.
