According to the Philadelphia Daily News, there remains "mutual" interest between the Eagles and free agent Jeremy Shockey. "Nothing is close to happening now," however, cautions the Daily News. The Eagles still haven't brought Shockey in for a physical, perhaps because they want to give youngsters Brett Brackett and Chase Ford a chance to make a mark early in camp.

The Eagles still have not scheduled a meeting with free agent TE Jeremy Shockey. The Eagles missed out on Visanthe Shiancoe, who chose to sign with the Patriots. But for now, they appear content to roll with Clay Harbor and Brett Brackett behind starter Brent Celek. We suspect that will change as camp moves along.

The Charlotte Observer reports the Panthers "haven't ruled out" re-signing free agent Jeremy Shockey. Per beat writer Joseph Person, the Panthers want to see how Gary Barnidge looks in camp before making a final decision on Shockey. Barnidge missed all of 2011 with a broken ankle. The AP's Steve Reed reported in March the Panthers were "really high" Barnidge's potential as a downfield threat before his injury. It probably doesn't hurt that he's making just $615,000.

The Eagles have "put on hold" plans to host free agent TE Jeremy Shockey for a physical. It appears Philadelphia may be on the verge of signing fellow free agent Visanthe Shiancoe. After making zero visits between now and March, Shockey's market should pick up following the start of training camps.

The Eagles will have in free agent Jeremy Shockey for a physical. The Eagles are kicking the tires on 32-year-old TEs Shockey and Visanthe Shiancoe, with the latter set to visit club headquarters on Tuesday. Both players can still catch and block, and would be an upgrade on incumbent No. 2 Clay Harbor.

The player rep for free agent TE Jeremy Shockey says the "door's still open (with the Panthers)," but that it's "more likely" Shockey signs elsewhere. The sides have kept an "open dialogue," but it doesn't sound like the Panthers are willing to meet Shockey's monetary demands after he caught a career-low 37 passes in 2011. He hasn't taken any visits since the beginning of free agency.

The Panthers and free agent TE Jeremy Shockey are keeping an "open dialogue" regarding a potential re-signing. Shockey played 509 snaps as the No. 2 tight end in Carolina last season, so this is far from insignificant. Currently, the Panthers are set to roll with Gary Barnidge behind starter Greg Olsen. Barnidge, however, missed the entire 2011 season due to a broken ankle, so it's no surprise that they'd like some security at the position. Shockey was hoping for a bigger role with a new team this year, but he obviously hasn't seen the market he was hoping. It looks like he may have to settle for a return to Carolina.

Profootballtalk.com reports free agent TE Jeremy Shockey is "hell bent" on taking action against NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp for saying he was the "snitch" in the Saints' bounty case. Shockey is apparently mulling legal action. Shockey hasn't received any public interest since the beginning of free agency, and can now point to Sapp's alleged defamation as one of the reasons he can't get work. Both Profootballtalk and CBS' Mike Freeman have reported Shockey was not the Saints' whistleblower. Being the "snitch" certainly wouldn't help Shockey's chances of finding employment, but the reality is he'd already be signed if teams were enthused about his 2012 prospects.
