Cardinals general manager Steve Keim extended a one-year prove-it deal to Weatherspoon last March, but the veteran inside linebacker was unable to gain much traction with Deone Bucannon and Kevin Minter manning those spots in the 3-4 defense run by defensive coordinator James Bettcher. By season's end, Weatherspoon earned just 12 percent of the defensive snaps, which translated to 11 tackles (nine solo) in 14 games. Although he's 28 years old, his injury history will likely result in a change of scenery in the upcoming campaign.
