Vernon Davis gained 44 yards on his only catch as the 49ers downed the Packers in the Divisional Round Saturday.
Davis drew a holding penalty on Packers CB Tramon Williams on a third-quarter drive, before securing a perfectly placed 44-yard bomb from Colin Kaepernick over his shoulder. The plays set up Frank Gore's two-yard rushing score. The 49ers would be smart to continue to try to increase Davis' passing-game impact in the NFC Championship Game against the Seattle-Atlanta winner. Behind Michael Crabtree, they're going to need a legitimate No. 2 receiving weapon if they get to the Super Bowl.
