Rodgers has the full confidence of head coach Dirk Koetter with respect to being able to handle "a significant number of snaps" in Week 5 against the Panthers, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. "Extremely. I've seen him do it. Jacquizz will have no problems. He'll do fine."
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old tailback appears to be queued up for a starter's workload against the Panthers on Monday night, given Charles Sims' doubtful designation due to a knee injury and the fact that his only backup at present is undrafted rookie Peyton Barber. Rodgers has totaled 69 yards on 13 carries and two receptions for 12 yards to date this season in limited duty. As a primary back for the Falcons back in 2013, he rushed for 194 yards on an average of 3.3 yards per carry, while also adding 152 yards on 24 receptions and scoring four total touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Panthers don't exactly offer a very promising path to success, as they've limited opposing ground attacks to a fifth-best 3.5 yards per carry and 361 total yards over the first four games.
