Miller is expected to receive the Broncos' exclusive franchise tag before Tuesday's deadline, the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, is the Broncos' biggest priority entering this offseason, and by handing him their exclusive franchise tag, Miller's 2016 salary would be calculated by the average of the five highest salaries at his position, and he would not be permitted to negotiate with other teams. Given that situation, it's highly likely the Broncos would be able to agree upon a lucrative long-term extension with Miller while ensuring he's with them for the 2016 season as well. Although fellow star defensive lineman Malik Jackson is also slated for free agency, Denver prioritizing Miller before Tuesday's deadline is certainly understandable if it can't reach a long-term deal with either player before then.
