Miles Austin played only a handful of snaps after leaving Dallas' Week 17 loss to the Redskins in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
He finished with zero catches on three targets. The fact that Austin returned at all is evidence that he's avoided a high-ankle sprain, but it's still a bitterly disappointing finish to the season for a player who will end up with less than 1,000 yards receiving for the second consecutive year. Austin's 66/943/6 line is nothing to sneeze at, but he was a non-factor for games at a time this year, and simply isn't earning the seven-year, $57.168 million extension he signed in September 2010. We fully expect him to be back in Dallas at his $6.732 million salary in 2013, but it will be put up or shut up time for the soon-to-be 29-year-old wideout.
