Hood signed with the Bears on Thursday, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Hood's signing coincides with the release of veteran defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff, who was dismissed from the team following a heated exchange with GM Ryan Pace outside of the Bears' practice facility Wednesday. A former first-round pick in 2009, Hood was placed on injured reserve by the Jaguars to open the season due to a foot ailment, but was released earlier this week. Given that he's now listed on the Bears' 53-man roster, Hood has presumably recovered from the injury and should be available in a backup capacity for the team's next game Nov. 1 against the Vikings.
