ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Packers OLB Clay Matthews will miss at least one month due to his fractured thumb.
It's an enormous blow to Green Bay's defense, which will now have to scheme pressure because it lost its lone true outside pass rusher. 2012 first-round pick Nick Perry has been a major disappointment to this point in his career. Mathews had three sacks, two forced fumbles, and 18 tackles through four games. The Packers also lost ILB Brad Jones (hamstring) and LB Rob Francois (Achilles') to significant injuries in Week 5 against the Lions.
Perry a major disappointment?
He was picked late in the first and spent most of his first season on IR. His play this last Sunday was quite good.
so who steps in for Clay at his position?
Perry got his impact plays on Clay's side when Clay was out. I think he switches sides. I don't know. Neal, Perry, and Raj will have to play well in Clay's absence if the DEF is to get any pressure.
