ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson reports the Chiefs and LT Branden Albert are expected to talk about a contract extension next week.
The deadline for the Chiefs and Albert to hammer out a long-term extension is July 15 -- two Mondays from now. It's hard to see the Chiefs ponying up the $9 million annually that Albert desires, especially after drafting left-tackle-of-the-future Eric Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick. Albert is almost certain to play out the year on his one-year, $9.828 million franchise tender.
