Davis is slated to be active for Sunday's game against the Colts, the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The recently-acquired tight end is still learning the Broncos' playbook, so how much of a factor he'll be in his debut with the team remains to be seen, but down the road, Davis should emerge as a valuable target for QB Peyton Manning.
1) He's a crazy talented receiver who has been ignored by his team for years. 2) Peyton consistently uses his TE's often. 3) Peyton is perhaps the greatest receiving coach the game has ever seen. All this points to success for both Davis and Manning. The only question is how much he'll be worked into formations. This could be a situation where he is more valuable in real life than in fantasy. I picked him up immediately, with high hopes of the latter. We'll just have to see.
If you like what Julius Thomas did for the Broncos I think Davis has enough left to put up the same or better numbers given Kubiaks love for the Tight End in the offense. Look at Houston's production from that position before and after Kubiak coupled with Manning's liking that position as well.
Today may not be his week. I grabbed him, but benched him. Give him a week to pick up the play book. Next week will be a better gauge of how he'll be the rest of the season.
