Weems has agreed to a two-year contract to remain with the Falcons, ESPN reports.

Weems was signed by the Falcons ahead of last season, but Atlanta's deep receiving corp limited him to just 10 catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Nonetheless, Weems will be brought back by the Falcons' new coaching regime, and should still be able to contribute on special teams moving forward.

Weems caught one ball for three yards on Sunday, but it went for a touchdown against the Saints.

Slotted behind Julio Jones, Roddy White, Harry Douglas and Devin Hester on the depth chart means Weems' opportunities are few and far between. He has 10 catches for 102 yards on the season, most of it coming when other receivers were injured.

Weems caught four balls for 69 yards in Thursday's win over the Buccaneers.

Weems finished with a nice statline, especially considering he's usually buried behind Julio Jones, Roddy White, Harry Douglas and Devin Hester on the depth chart. He'll have limited upside as long as White remains on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, but it sounds as if the veteran may be back on the field for Week 4, thus relegating Weems to certain situational packages.

Weems signed with the Falcons on Thursday.

Weems began his NFL career with four seasons for the Falcons, for whom he made the Pro Bowl as a special teams member in 2011. Now, with wideout Drew Davis (foot) destined for the PUP list to begin this season, Weems will have an opportunity make Atlanta's team once again.

The Bears cut Weems on Saturday.

Weems signed a three-year deal with the Bears prior to the 2012 season, catching just three passes for 35 yards since then. He also failed to make an impact as a returner, returning just 18 kickoffs for 288 yards. Unless he convinces a team that he can regain his form as the high level kick and punt returner he was in Atlanta in 2010, Weems might struggle to find work.

Weems didn't see a target in the passing game during Thursday's preseason game against the Jaguars.

With Marquess Wilson likely to miss the first few weeks with a broken collarbone, Weems is among the group of receivers who could be counted upon to replace his production. Free agent signing Josh Morgan appears to be the likeliest candidate to see work in three-receiver sets, but Weems will still have a great chance at clinching a roster spot due to his prowess on special teams coverage units.

Bears WR Eric Weems has agreed to a pay cut.

Weems will reduce his 2014 base salary from $1 million to $730,000, which is the six-year veteran minimum. A pure special teams player, Weems is a candidate to replace Devin Hester on kick returns.

Bears WR Eric Weems has declined to take a pay cut, and is expected to be released.

Weems would rather shop his wares on the open market than take a cut, though at this point, the money difference is likely to be minimal. Cutting Weems would clear $1.1 million in cap space for the Bears.

The Bears have asked WR Eric Weems to take a pay cut or he'll be released.

Weems is a pure special teamer and could be an option to replace Devin Hester as the return man. He's scheduled to count $1.6 million against the cap in the final year of his deal. The Bears could save $1.1 million with Weems' release.

Bears WR Eric Weems has replaced Devin Hester as the team's primary kick returner.

Hester is out for Week 13 with a concussion, but Weems would have handled return duties either way. Hester is averaging 25.5 yards per return this season but only has a long return of 38 yards. Weems was sent to the Pro Bowl in 2010 as a return man with the Falcons.
