Royal caught four passes (on six targets) for 52 yards and returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown in Monday night's loss to the Eagles.

EDGE Analysis

Royal made hay with a couple of screens and underneath catches Monday, but his biggest contribution came on special teams. Even so, Royal has now scored in both games to start this season, topping his mere one touchdown for the Bears in 2015. The veteran has long been a shifty target capable of moving the sticks, but it's hard to get excited about his fantasy stock, particularly if quarterback Jay Cutler's hand injury impacts his status in the coming weeks.

Royal caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in addition to returning four punts for 40 yards Sunday against the Texans.

EDGE Analysis

In his first game action since suffering a concussion early in training camp, Royal tied Alshon Jeffery for second on the team with six pass targets, behind only Kevin White, who had seven. However, Jeffery and Royal were the only receivers to post more than 34 yards in the opener. It was clear that White was struggling with his route-running, and Jay Cutler was extremely comfortable trusting Royal in the middle of the field. Although it's just one game, the veteran could end up being a surprise depth option for fantasy teams.

Royal (concussion) is not listed on Wednesday's injury report, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

EDGE Analysis

With Royal and TE Zach Miller both fully cleared from concussion, Jay Cutler should have his full complement of weapons in Sunday's road game against the Texans. While likely to serve as the team's primary slot threat, Royal doesn't figure to get much playing time in two-wide formations, working behind both Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White.

Royal (concussion) sat out the Bears preseason finale Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

Royal had practiced in full earlier in the week, so he seems to be a good bet to be the starting slot receiver in Week 1. After suffering his concussion on August 1, he failed to appear in any of the four preseason games.

Royal (concussion) was cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol. allowing him to return to practice Monday.

EDGE Analysis

With Zach Miller (concussion) also cleared for Monday's practice, Jay CUtler should have his full complement of weapons at the beginning of the season. Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White will gobble up the vast majority of outside receiver snaps, leaving Royal to work primarily as the slot man in three-wide sets.

Royal (concussion) will not play in Saturday's third preseason game against Kansas City, Adam Johns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

EDGE Analysis

Royal has been back at practice for nearly a week, but the Bears won't look to take any chances with their veteran receiver during the preseason. He was spotted partaking in pregame warmups Saturday, so with another two weeks left before the season starts, it seems that Royal will be ready for when it matters most.

Royal (concussion) took part in practice Saturday, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

The concussion protocol has been Royal's home for the bulk of training camp and the preseason slate, but he's progressed from work on the side before Thursday's preseason game in New England to Saturday's appearance in practice. Although his activity level is unknown, he has clearly taken a step in the right direction in his quest to be cleared of symptoms.

Royal (concussion) hasn't returned to practice in full, but began working out on the side on Thursday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

EDGE Analysis

Royal has been in the concussion protocol since Aug. 1, and should return to practice in full any day now. He's expected to be the Bear's No. 3 option at wide out, behind Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White. His return to practice will mean a drop in reps for Marc Mariani and Josh Bellamy, who were seeing significantly more time while Royal and Marquess Wilson (foot) were both sidelined.

Royal is close to passing the NFL's concussion protocol, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

After being placed in the concussion protocol on August 1, Royal took part in a lengthy conditioning workout before the Bears' first preseason game Thursday. Based on the positive results of the workout, he could return to practice as early as this weekend. He'll be expected to handle the team's slot receiver duties when the regular season begins, and he'll look to put an injury-plagued 2015 behind him. The veteran receiver is basically free in fantasy drafts, and those playing in point-per-reception leagues with deep benches should consider taking a flier on him for depth purposes.

Royal (concussion) is not practicing on Monday, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Royal has yet to pass league protocol concussion tests, forcing him to remain on the sideline. The veteran is in danger of missing Thursday's preseason opener against the Broncos, which would give some of the younger wideouts extended opportunities on the field.
