Bruton entered the NFL's concussion protocol on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Bruton will need to pass a series of tests before being allowed back on the field. Through four games, the Notre Dame product sits second on the team in tackles and would be a tough loss if he can't play in Week 5, considering the Redskins are already down starting CB Bashaud Breeland (ankle) and FS DeAngelo Hall (knee).

Washington and Bruton agreed to a contract Monday, Stephen Czarda of the team's official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran safety primarily served on special teams during his seven-year stint with the Broncos, but eight starts litter his 104 career games. Last season, he received three nods in 13 appearances before suffering a season-ending broken right fibula in Week 15, finishing with 49 tackles (37 solo), two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one sack. Although he missed Denver's run to Super Bowl glory, he'll have the opportunity to lock down the first regular starting gig as a professional with Washington.

Bruton (leg) was placed Tuesday on season-ending injured reserve, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Bruton unknowingly played through a fractured fibula during Sunday's loss to the Steelers, but after a post-game MRI confirmed the extent of the injury, his season will come to an early end. With starting safeties T.J. Ward (ankle) and Darian Stewart (hamstring) both still injured, the Broncos signed Shaun Prater on Tuesday.

Bruton suffered a broken right fibula during Sunday's game against the Steelers, and while he played through the ailment, he will now miss four to six weeks, the Denver Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

X-rays reportedly didn't show any breaks, but an later MRI confirmed the fracture, a fairly incredible result given that Bruton was able to continue playing after suffering the injury when he collided with teammate Aqib Talib. Bruton, who has not been placed on season-ending injured reserve, has a career-high 42 tackles, one sack and two interceptions this season.

Bruton suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday's regular-season opener against the Colts and he will have an MRI on Monday, according to ESPN.com.

Strangely, Bruton suffered the injury on a kickoff that ended up as a touchback. He had treatment after the game and said later that he was hopeful that he wouldn't miss much time. He's a minimal IDP but he is also the Broncos' special teams captain, though he doesn't get return yards there either.

Broncos S David Bruton made a "big jump" in spring practices.

"Every year that I've been here he's improved slightly every year," assistant DBs coach Sam Garnes said. "And this year he made a big jump." A special teams standout, Bruton has never been asked to play much defense in his four seasons with the Broncos. He could push SS Mike Adams for the starting job this summer, but it's unlikely that Bruton will unseat him.

Broncos DC Jack Del Rio has give S David Bruton a long look during the team's offseason program.

Bruton primarily played special teams in his first four seasons, and saw just 34 snaps on defense last season. At 6'2" and 211lbs, Bruton is bigger than Mike Adams, the incumbent starter at strong safety. Quentin Jammer is also posing a legitimate threat to start this year.

Broncos re-signed S David Bruton to a three-year contract.

25-year-old Bruton doesn't play on defense, but he is a force as a special teams gunner. His return should not affect Denver's plans to upgrade at safety.
