Sproles (hip) will retire after this season, Daniel Gallen of The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the end of the road for a great career from Sproles, who was a three-time Pro Bowler during his lengthy stint in the NFL. Sproles racked up 3,552 rushing yards, 4,840 receiving yards and 55 touchdowns from scrimmage and had nine special teams touchdowns as well.

The Eagles placed Sproles (hip) on injured reserve Friday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio reports.
EDGE Analysis
The transaction officially puts a bow on Sproles' 2019 campaign, and perhaps his time in the NFL as well. After back-to-back injury shortened seasons, Sproles mulled retirement for most of the spring before ultimately re-signing with Philadelphia on a one-year deal in July. Unfortunately, a quadriceps injury kept Sproles out for three games during the first half of the Eagles' schedule before he returned to action Week 9, only for the running back to suffer a full tear of his right hip flexor muscle during Wednesday's practice. In response to Sproles' latest injury, the Eagles signed Jay Ajayi to provide backfield depth behind Jordan Howard (shoulder), Miles Sanders and Boston Scott.

Sproles (quadriceps) will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed Friday with a torn right hip flexor muscle.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles missed Thursday's practice with what was labeled as a quadriceps injury, but it appears he was actually dealing with the hip issue. The 36-year-old apparently suffered a partial tear of the hip flexor in early October but was cleared to return for Week 9 versus the Bears. He then sustained the full tear during Wednesday's practice, with the Eagles opting to shut him down for good. It's the third consecutive season Sproles has missed 10-plus games, and his increasing durability concerns could spell an end to his 15-year career. Fellow back Jordan Howard (shoulder) is also banged up, prompting the Eagles to bring in free agent Jay Ajayi for a workout Friday.

Sproles didn't participate in Thursday's practice due to a quadriceps injury.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles missed three consecutive games earlier in the season due to a quad issue, so it's somewhat disconcerting that the same injury has cropped up again coming out of a Week 10 bye. The veteran has only filled a bit role out of the Philadelphia backfield on the occasions he's suited up this season, but his availability for Sunday's game against the Patriots may carry greater import than normal with lead back Jordan Howard dealing with a shoulder injury that has limited him in back-to-back practices.

Sproles rushed twice for seven yards and caught one of his two targets for three yards in Sunday's 22-14 win over the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles played 10 offensive snaps in his return from a three-game absence due to a quad injury. All of his touches and targets came in the first half while Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders far outpaced the 36-year-old in terms of playing time and carries. His main role right now comes on special teams returning punts.

Sproles (quadriceps) practiced fully Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles' ability to practice without restriction was enough for the Eagles to sign off on his return to action following a three-game absence due to the quad injury. With Sproles back in the fold, Boston Scott will presumably drop to fourth on the depth chart and may be limited to a special-teams role Sunday, if he's even active.

Coach Doug Pederson is optimistic Sproles (quadriceps) will return to action Sunday against the Bears, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles practiced this week for the first time since injuring his quad in Week 5, providing reason to believe he'll be back on the field Sunday. The veteran has yet to turn in a full practice, however, so he may need to do so Friday in order to avoid carrying an injury designation into the Week 9 contest.

Sproles (quadriceps) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles has maintained his activity level for back-to-back days, but it's unclear if he'll be able to make enough progress by week's end to play for the first time since Week 5. Friday's injury report will reveal his chances to suit up Sunday versus the Bears.

Sproles (quadriceps) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sproles' limited activity in the first session of Week 9 represented a positive step forward after he failed to practice in any fashion ahead of the Eagles' past three games. The veteran running back looks like he'll have a shot at returning to action Sunday against the Bears, though his participation in practice the next couple of days will bear monitoring.

Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that he expects Sproles (quadriceps) to practice "a little bit" during Week 9, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even if Sproles only practices on a limited basis this week, that activity would still represent a step forward after he hadn't practiced in any capacity since sustaining the quad injury in Week 5 against the Jets. The Eagles haven't formally ruled Sproles out for the Week 9 matchup with the Bears, but the team is more realistically eyeing him for a return to action following its Week 10 bye.
