Thomas was released by Miami on Saturday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas had a solid camp but in the end he offers very little upside as far as a running back is concerned and doesn't play special teams. The Dolphins chose to go with several backs who are younger, more versatile, and offer higher upside.

Thomas rushed for 30 yards on seven carries as the Dolphins were crushed by Dallas 41-14 on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas is battling for a roster spot with several other backs on the Miami roster. Arian Foster, Jay Ajayi, and Kenyan Drake are guaranteed spots which would seem to leave either Thomas or Isaiah Pead fighting for one spot should Miami only keep four running backs after the final cut.

Thomas gained 40 yards on 10 carries and totaled seven yards on two receptions in Friday's 27-10 preseason victory over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran tailback made a solid return to the team he spent 2011-2014 with, likely benefiting from fresh legs after not having played in the NFL in 2015. Thomas remains a long shot to make the final roster given the ample competition at the running back position, but Friday's effort certainly served as a point in his favor.

The Dolphins and Thomas (knee) agreed to a contract Thursday, Rand Getlin of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
After dabbling in but ultimately losing out on C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson, the Dolphins are following a cheap path to production out of the backfield with the additions of Thomas and Isaiah Pead on Thursday. Thomas himself remained unemployed last season following his release from the Bears near the tail end of the preseason slate. In four previous campaigns with the Dolphins, he didn't exactly turn heads, averaging 3.6 YPC, hauling in 55 passes, and scoring 13 touchdowns in 55 games. If he's still with the team out of training camp, he'll more than likely play second fiddle, at best, to sophomore RB Jay Ajayi.

Thomas was cut by the Bears on Sunday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thomas never climbed higher than sixth on the Bears' training camp depth chart at running back, and accordingly, saw only five carries in the preseason, all of which came in the first exhibition. The early camp cut doesn't bode well for Thomas' NFL future, especially after he provided a pathetic 3.6 yards per carry average during his previous four seasons in the league.

The Bears have signed Thomas, Omar Kelly of South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. While Matt Forte is clearly atop the Bears' running back depth chart, Thomas joins the team's complementary/backup mix, a group that also includes Jacquizz Rodgers, Ka'Deem Carey, Jeremy Langford and Senorise Perry. Thomas, who was made a second-round draft choice by the Dolphins in 2011, carried the ball 44 times for 168 yards and two TDs in 12 games for Miami this past season. Now that he's part of the Chicago backfield equation, he's still a break or two away from fantasy consideration.

Thomas had 168 yards rushing and two touchdowns during the 2014 season. Thomas was re-signed by the Dolphins due to the injury to Knowshon Moreno but did little to nothing to show that he deserves to be back with the team in 2015.

Thomas (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Jets. Thomas will continue to work as one of Lamar Miller's backups, and he is unlikely to make much of an impact against a Jets defense allowing the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game this season.

Thomas (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Jets, the Dolphins' official site reports. Thomas, who had been limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, returned to a full session Friday and is thus on track to be part of the depth mix behind Lamar Miller in Week 17.

Thomas (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, the Dolphins' official site reports. Thomas thus has a chance to return to action Sunday against the Jets, though he's off the fantasy radar as long as Lamar Miller remains healthy.
