Long will sign a one-year contract with the Patriots, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

With Chandler Jones being shipped to the Cardinals, the Patriots needed some additional help on the defensive line, so they've opted to sign Long to a one-year deal. Long spent the first eight years of his career with the Rams and is coming off a 2015-16 campaign where he posted 19 tackles and three sacks. He'll have to battle in training camp for the right to see meaningful reps come the regular season opener.

Long will take a free agent visit with the Redskins on Tuesday, ESPN's Trey Wingo reports.

EDGE Analysis

Long's visit comes after the Redskins released both defensive linemen Terrance Knighton and Jason Hatcher on Monday. Although Long only managed to play 18 games and post four sacks over the last two seasons, his track record before then makes him a notable free agent that could help fill the Redskins' front-seven vacancies.

Long was released by the Rams on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

EDGE Analysis

Once an elite pass-rusher, Long's stock has fallen dramatically over the past couple seasons, finishing 2015 with just three sacks and 19 tackles (nine solo) over 12 games. He'll likely play elsewhere for the first time in his career, but there should be teams willing to give the veteran defensive end a shot given his past track record.

EDGE Analysis

Long will be playing for the first time since Week 5, and the Rams are surely happy to have him back with Robert Quinn out for this game.

Long (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Baltimore, ESPN's Nick Wagoner reports.

EDGE Analysis

Despite logging full practices throughout the week, Long apparently isn't a sure thing to suit up, as he hasn't played in a game since Week 5. Though he's no longer worthy of IDP consideration, the Rams would surely appreciate Long's return, especially with Robert Quinn (hip) also listed as questionable.

Long (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Long required the Rams' bye week and four additional games to recover from a knee injury, but his first appearance since Week 5 appears to be nigh. In his return Sunday at Baltimore, he'll seek to boost a pass rush that has tallied the third-most sacks in the NFL with 29, two of them by Long's hands.

Long (knee) is inactive Sunday against the Bears, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

EDGE Analysis

Long returned to practice Friday but was listed as doubtful on the injury report, so it's not surprising that he'll sit out once again. His next opportunity to play will come in Week 11 against Baltimore.

Long (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Minnesota, ESPN's Nick Wagoner reports.

EDGE Analysis

With Long missing a third consecutive game, William Hayes (questionable-thigh) is in line to make another start, assuming his own injury hasn't gotten worse since last week. The Minnesota offensive line will still have its hands full.

Long (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group reports.

EDGE Analysis

With Long missing a second straight game, William Hayes (questionable-thigh) should get another start at defensive end, if he's able to play. Neither player warrants IDP consideration.
