Reed has reached an agreement to join the Falcons, ESPN's Tania Ganguli reports.

A second-round pick in the 2011 draft, Reed has experience playing both inside and outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, with the former being more useful in the majority of IDP formats. It's not entirely clear how the Falcons will use him, given that the team has a seemingly endless list of needs on defense. Reed has just 169 tackles and 14.5 sacks through four NFL seasons, but he's known as a solid run defender.

Reed is unlikely to re-sign with the Texans, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Reed has some pass-rush ability, recording 14.5 sacks in four seasons with the Texans, but never developed into a three-down linebacker. The knack for pressuring the quarterback ought to draw some interest in the market.

Reed, who suffered a groin injury in last Thursday's loss to the Colts, is no longer limping, the Houston Chronicle reports.

A quick recovery for Reed, who was limping around the locker room the day after the game. It appears he has a good chance to play this week when the Texans travel to Pittsburgh for a Monday night game.

Reed suffered a groin injury during Thursday night's loss to the Colts, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Head coach Bill O'Brien is optimistic, but described Reed as "in the day-to-day category." With another nine days before Houston plays Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football in Week 7, there's still some time for Reed to heal up. Through six games, Reed has 17 tackles, one sack and one interception.

Reed had five tackles and a sack while earning a game ball after Week 1's win over Washington, CSN Houston reports.

Many of the post-game questions focused on the knee injury to Jadeveon Clowney, but head coach Bill O'Brien abruptly changed the subject to Reed's effort. "Brooks Reed played one of the better games that I've seen an outside linebacker play (recently). He went out there and played a very disciplined game, got good pressure on the quarterback, played good against the run game," said O'Brien.

Reed will start at outside linebacker in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cardinals, the Texans' official site reports.

Reed, who has been working out at both inside and outside linebacker, will open preseason as the starting strong-side backer. The Texans are pretty deep at outside linebacker with Reed, Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus all expected to see action this season.

The Texans have moved Brooks Reed to inside linebacker, as expected.

One of new coach Bill O'Brien's mottos is "the more you can do." Reed could be a Tedy Bruschi-like player under ex-Patriots DC Romeo Crennel, with flexibility to play either inside or outside. In base packages, expect Reed to line up next to Brian Cushing, with Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus on the edges. In Houston's "sub" defenses, Reed will give Houston a lot of pass-rush options.
