Powell is re-signing with the Jets, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Jets replaced Chris Ivory with Matt Forte, who should present Powell with more competition for targets. However, the Jets weren't the only team with interest in in Powell, and their decision to bring him back suggests they have a significant role in mind.

Powell ended the season with 701 yards from scrimmage along with three touchdowns.

EDGE Analysis

He started out the season as a change-of-pace option for Chris Ivory, but near the end of the season, Powell was the Jets most effective running back before missing Week 17 with an ankle injury. He'll be a free agent this offseason, and although he was productive for a stretch this season, he missed five games due to injury. Due to his lack of a proven track record along with durability questions, he's likely going to sign a contract as a receiving back in a committee. His fantasy value will be directly related to where he lands in 2016.

Powell (ankle) is inactive Sunday against the Bills.

EDGE Analysis

Powell has been a big producer in recent weeks, as he's taken on a significant load in the passing game, something he didn't do for much of his career. However, he was unable to practice this week, and his absence will open up more touches for Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley.

Powell (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills after missing practice for a third straight day on Friday, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.

EDGE Analysis

Per the report, "it doesn't look good" for Powell, with Cimini noting that if the running back plays Sunday, he'd be the first Jet to do so this season after not practicing all week. On the plus side, fellow RB Chris Ivory is probable for the team's regular season finale.

Powell (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

More on Powell's Week 17 status Friday, but back-to-back missed practices have clouded the running back's availability for Sunday's regular season finale against the Bills.

Powell (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, NJ.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Chris Ivory (knee) also sat out Wednesday's practice, but at this stage Powell's Week 17 status looks less certain, with coach Todd Bowles noting Wednesday that Powell's ankle is "pretty sore now." More on the duo's status no later than Thursday's practice, as the Jets continue their preparation for Sunday's game against the Bills.

Powell rushed seven times for 56 yards while catching five of seven pass targets for an additional 34 yards Sunday against the Patriots.

EDGE Analysis

Powell was easily the Jets most effective running back in this contest, as he was equally effective as a runner and receiver. He might have gotten more carries, but Stevan Ridley was effective for the first time this season and earned seven carries, which was as many as Powell had. He now has posted at least 79 combined yards in each of his last four contests.

Powell rushed six times for 25 yards and a touchdown while catching all seven of his pass targets for an additional 54 yards.

EDGE Analysis

While Chris Ivory was struggling a bit, Powell got some red zone work and cashed in with a 12-yard touchdown run on which he was hardly touched. He also was able to take advantage of a couple of drives in the hurry-up offense to add to his receiving totals. He now has posted at least 79 combined yards in four of his last five games. In addition, he's also scored in his last three contests.

Powell had three carries for 36 yards while catching all five of his pass targets for an additional 46 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Titans.

EDGE Analysis

Powell served in his usual change of pace role, but gained over 10 yards per touch to post a very productive afternoon. On his touchdown reception, he circled out of the backfield to make a short catch, before fighting through a number of defenders for the 16-yard score. Despite seeing fewer than 10 touches in most games, he now has posted at least 82 combined yards in three of his last four contests.

Powell rushed six times for 17 yards but caught eight of 13 targets for 91 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's win over the Giants.

EDGE Analysis

The Giants did a pretty good job slowing down the Jets' rushing attack, and Powell contributed in a big way in the passing game. Starting running back Chris Ivory was active as well, rushing 10 times for 47 yards and catching five passes for 22 receiving yards, but it was Powell that was the more popular option, as his 13 targets tied Brandon Marshall for the team lead. Powell has had more than 65 receiving yards in two of the last three games, and he could be a solid late-season sleeper in PPR leagues if he can keep it going. Up next is a Week 14 home game against the Titans.
