Carrington re-signed with the Bills on Monday, reports.

Carrington was a 2010 third-rounder who never really developed into a regular with the team, but he became a decent depth player and one that was strong on special teams, namely as a kick blocker with his 6-5 height and big wingspan. After one season with the Rams, that's pretty much the exact role he'll be expected to have again in his return to Buffalo.

Rams agreed to terms with DL Alex Carrington, formerly of the Bills.

A versatile lineman, Carrington was limited to three games and 171 snaps by a torn quad last season. He'll provide an interior presence in St. Louis, creating pressure between ends Robert Quinn and Chris Long. Three months shy of his 27th birthday, Carrington fortifies an interior line that was not a strength for the Rams in 2013.

The Browns' interest in Carrington has been known since free agency opened, but the two sides are just getting around to the visit. Carrington has a connection with coach Mike Pettine and is capable of playing all along the defensive front.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams "remain interested" in free agent DT, but that the sides have yet to schedule a visit.

Carrington visited the Raiders on Sunday, and made a trip to Pittsburgh last week. The fact that Carrington has escaped two cities without deals is an indication his price needs to come down.

The Rams will be next on his visit list, assuming he gets out of Oakland. Carrington visited the Steelers late last week, and has also drawn interest from the Browns. The 27-year-old (in June) is an effective pass rusher when healthy.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent DL Alex Carrington's had a good visit with the Steelers Thursday.

Nothing is imminent, but both sides will continue to talk. Carrington is an interior pocket-pusher that has the versatility to play all along the Steelers' defensive line. After missing most of 2013 with a torn quad, Carrington should come at a bargain as well. The Rams and Browns are also interested.

Carrington is also drawing interest from the Browns and Rams. The 26-year-old is scheme-versatile. At 6-foot-5, 301 pounds, Carrington has the ideal height to play end in the Steelers' 3-4. He's an interior pocket-pusher.

Free agent DL Alex Carrington is drawing heavy interest from the Rams and Browns.

Coming off a torn quad, Carrington is one of the sleepers in this year's free agent class. He's capable of playing all over the line and can push the pocket from the interior. It's no surprise former Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is trying to bring Carrington to Cleveland.

The Bills are expected to let free agent DL Alex Carrington hit the market.

As a versatile down lineman who turns 27 in June, Carrington could be a value pickup for a savvy team. He missed most of last season with a torn quad, but was a highly efficient interior pass rusher in 2012 and can play both tackle and end. Perhaps new Browns coach Mike Pettine will pursue Carrington to rush the passer in sub-packages. Pettine was his defensive coordinator in Buffalo.

Updating a previous item, Bills LE Alex Carrington is expected to be done for the season with a torn quadriceps tendon.

It's not a left knee injury as originally reported, but the end result is as bad as imagined. Carrington had been playing significant snaps as Buffalo's starting left end. The Bills have the most banged-up defense in football.
