Woods (calf) will be available to play Sunday against the Colts, The Tennessean's Jason Wolf reports.

Woods (calf) returned to the Titans' practice Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

He was unlisted on the team's injury report as well. The defensive tackle injured his calf in Week 4, and it was subsequently announced he would miss up to four weeks. A return this week would put him ahead of schedule. Head coach MIke Mularkey indicated Woods "looked good" at practice.

Woods (calf) will be out for a few weeks after getting injured Sunday, Jason Wolf of USA Today reports.

EDGE Analysis

Woods was initially listed as questionable to return on Sunday after he injured his calf in the first half, but upon inspection his injury was determined to be worse than at first thought. Look for Angelo Blackson and Karl Klug to see some extra time as long as Woods is out.

Woods suffered a calf injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's tilt with Texans.

EDGE Analysis

The specifics of the injury are unknown, but the Titans will be very thin on the defensive front with Woods out. Austin Johnson, the only other true defensive tackle, is inactive for the game, leaving Angelo Blackson and Karl Klug to fill in if Woods is unable to return.

Titans signed NT Al Woods, formerly of the Steelers, to a two-year, $5 million contract.

Scratch those scheduled visits to Green Bay and Arizona. Woods can play some defensive end, but will ideally be a run-stuffer up the gut in Ray Horton's hybrid 3-4 scheme. The 2010 four-rounder should be fresh after playing just 223 snaps with the Steelers last year.

Updating a previous item, the Titans have not signed free agent NT Al Woods.

A previous report indicated they had, but the beat reporter has retracted. Woods is visiting Tennessee on Wednesday, and is scheduled to visit the Packers on Thursday. He has a third meeting lined up with Arizona for Friday.

Titans signed NT Al Woods, formerly of the Steelers.

Woods, 27, backed up Steve McLendon at nose tackle in Pittsburgh last year, providing a big lift in run defense as McLendon wore down late in the season. He's a natural fit under new Titans DC Ray Horton, who studied under and played for Steelers DC Dick LeBeau. Woods is a probable starter in Nashville.

Free agent NT Al Woods will visit the Titans on Wednesday.

The 2010 fourth-rounder played 223 snaps last season. Woods could also play defensive end in DC Ray Horton's hybrid 3-4, though he's far more useful as a run stopper than pass rusher.

Steelers NT/DE Al Woods has been taking reps with the second-team in OTAs.

The Steelers invested a fourth-round pick in Alameda Ta'amu a year ago with the hope he would start, or at least be part of a rotation at nose tackle. Instead, the team has already named Steve McLendon their starter, while moving Woods to second on the depth chart. Woods also has the versatility to play defensive end in Pittsburgh's 3-4 scheme. Ta'amu is on notice.

Steelers claimed DT Al Woods off waivers from the Seahawks.

Woods was active just twice for the Seahawks this season, tallying two tackles. His snaps figure to be extremely limited in Pittsburgh.
